Key & Compass presents:
Dark Soul
by A O Muñiz

Dark Soul is a Z-machine interactive fiction game written with Inform 6 and is © 2003 by A O Muñiz. It uses the Platypus release 4 library, and it was an entry in the Speed-IF 19 event.

In this sad story, you play as an operative force—perhaps a conscience? perhaps an angel?—within the mental landscape of this being. The soul of the being is pitch dark. Discover why this is so and determine what should be done next.

This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.

You have a choice. Will you spare the being...?

> node, e.

*** You have spared the being ***

> undo

...Or will you destroy him?

> node, wornode, jump.

*** You have destroyed the being ***

Personally, I find this a sad story with either ending, but I think it's clear that this second ending, where the being is destroyed but its soul is re-lit is meant to be the better ending.

Thank You to my Patreon supporters

This walkthrough is provided free of charge since I wrote this walkthrough prior to January 2015 when I began my Patreon account, and also because the work it's based on has less than fifteen locations (so I wouldn't have charged for it anyway). I've since reformatted this walkthrough to use my currently preferred style. I hope you enjoy it!

I'm still creating new walkthroughs! Larger ones too! Please visit my Patreon account if you're interested in helping me create more interactive fiction walkthroughs. I appreciate all the help I can get! Thanks again.
