The Oily Deeps is a Z-machine interactive fiction game written with Inform 6 and is © 1999 by John Cater. It was an entry in the Speed-IF 7 event.

You play as someone who told some sailors they shouldn't have any more to drink. The next thing you know, you're regaining consciousness covered in crude oil, inside a oil tank, and without your stuff. That can't be healthy.

This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on Release 1 of the game.
