Key & Compass presents:
Reality Show
by Anonymous

Reality Show is a TADS 2 interactive fiction game and is © 2003 by Anonymous. It was a participant in the Speed-IF Jacket 2 event.

In this short game, you play as one of five players in a TV game show, but only one of you is real. Explore the vicinity and earn points by discovering what is real and what isn't real. The first player to return to the gateway with 1000 points is the winner.

This solution is by David Welbourn, and is based on the version dated April 12-13, 2002 of the game.

Walkthrough

Gateway

Two random effects make an exact walkthrough impossible, but it's easy enough to deal with. First, the fog moves in and out from your location. Just wait until the fog leaves before trying to examine anything in a room to get the points (if any) from it. Secondly, there are a quartet of wandering NPCs, but fortunately, you may ignore them. Of course, feel free to examine them when you see them.
