It orbits the immense star Furibundus, a collection of haphazard structures built into a clutch of asteroids, and protected from the star�s fury by layers of void shields. It is a rough and uncivilized locale, where the mighty rule by force of arms and the weak scrabble to survive."

GM says, "However, the coordinates are missing. All you have are some information about a stellar anomaly which makes this system unique amongst others, and a rough idea of what sector it's in."
Yolande says that.
[peregaming] Zero asks, "Hmm. Does that seems like the sort of thing we should be able to identify ourselves -- like, by going to that sector and scanning all the stars -- or more like something we would want to ask locals about?"
[peregaming] GM says, "The Koronus Expanse is huge."
[peregaming] Zero says, "Oh, OK -- so it's not specifically a thing near where Furibundus."
[peregaming] Yolande says, "Incidentally, I have peerage with Nobility, Underworld, and Academics, and I'm a xenophile, so I should do a lot of the talking :)"

Zero looks relieved that Yolande is stepping forward.

[peregaming] GM says, "As a trade, it's a delicate balancing act between 'selling the MEchanicus stuff they want' and 'not being beaten up by the MEchanicus in order to find out where the cool stuff is so they don't have to pay for it'"

(From GM) Spens says, "So, I had a bit of Warp bother and had to translate into real space prematurely."

Yolande asks, "Oh, tell me more?"
(From GM) Spens says, "It had a star that was not spherical, kind of wobbling around like jelly, you know? Freaky, it was, and the gravity riptide was something frightful."
(From GM) Spens says, "There were a lot of asteroids, tricky they were, and two planets, but I didn't dare land because I thought they looked dangerous."
(From GM) Spens says, "But the funny thing is, even though the gravity was acting up something awful, the Warp was perfectl calm. My Navigator never seen anything like it."

Yolande says, "Oh, that's fascinating. Can you tell me where this was? That would be very helpful for our own travels."
(From GM) Spens says, "Oh, right! Well, my Navigator made a nifty chart in case we should ever need to bail out of a warpstorm in a hurry. For a nice price, it's yours."

Zero says, "Guns! And people pointing them."
Alyan calls out "Hello! We're not here to hurt you! Are you OK?"
Obem draws her lascannon and motions her mooks to take position.
GM says, "Someone from inside the cave answers back, but he's not speaking in High or Low Gothic..."
Alyan says, "I... don't understand you! Just a sec."
GM exclaims, "...he's speaking in a language that only Obem can understand... the secret tongue of the Imperial Guard!"
GM says, "Albeit mangled-sounding."
Obem asks (of gm), "What did he say?"
[peregaming] Zero says, "I suppose it would be remarkably unlikely for them to be speaking the local language of whatever space station my orphanage was on."
[peregaming] Zero says, "Timing."
GM says (to Obem), "He said something along the lines of 'drop your weapons if you mean no harm'"
Obem relays that to Zero.
Zero says, "Sure."
Obem asks, "What?"
Zero sets down her weapons.
Alyan exclaims, "Oh!"
Zero says (to Obem), "I'm dropping mine."
Obem exclaims, "That is the easiest trick in the book!"
Zero says, "You don't have to drop yours."
Zero says, "In fact, you should probably cover me."
Alyan sets down their weapons, pulls out their flute, sits down, and plays someething lilting.

Zero says (to Obem), "OK. They're not shooting at me yet."
[peregaming] GM says, "And it adds some flashiness to Zero's approach."
Obem says (to zero), "If they try anything, we come in guns blazing."
GM says, "Someone is now walking out of the cave to meet zero."
Zero asks (of Obem), "Stay back, but let them know that I'm not armed, and that I'm the captain of the Rogue Trader ship the Fortunate?"
Alyan continues to play, and indicates to Obem that she should translate for Zero.
Obem lowers (put doesn't put away) her weapons, and motions everyone to do the same.
Obem relays that.
Zero offers a hand to shake.

GM says, "It's a person wearing a battered void suit whose helmet has been replaced with an oversized eagle head made of some sort of unknown metal, carrying a lasgun."

[peregaming] Zero says, "So, I'm here as a friendly figurehead, but I think maybe Alyan come up with the actual words for us to say here on our side."
[peregaming] Zero says, "Because I am fundamentally bad at socializing, especially with planet-y people."
[peregaming] Zero says (to Obem), "Are you keeping your weapons? (Lowered and/or holstered?)"
[peregaming] Obem says, "Lowered."
Zero says (to Obem), "Can you stick my weapons in a pocket somewhere? I don't want to lose them."
[peregaming] Alyan says, "Oh, hmm, I guess that finally expains why I didn't think there was anything to take for skills--I thought basic and trained were the same thing."
Obem grabs Zero's guns with her tentacles and puts them away.

GM says, "Some other eagledudes (for lack of a better name) come out of the shadows and from behind cover to escort you and their leader into the cave."

Zero asks (of Dudes), "So, do you, uh... live here?"
(From GM) Eagle Leader says, "Since the beginning."
Zero asks, "So, before you were born?"

Obem says, "They must have crashed here a long time ago"
(From GM) Eagle Leader says, "You come from Above, like our ancestors did?"
Zero says (to Obem), "I wonder if they want to be rescued."

Zero asks, "Do you want to return to... Above? With us?"
[Crows-Nest] Obem says, "Somewhere in this group is an Ancient Astronaut kook who is suddenly very smug"
(From GM) Eagle Leader says, "This world of ours... it is harsh. Unforgiving. They say it is better Above, but none but the souls of the departed go there now."

Obem asks, "The storm... it is always with you?"
Zero whispers (to Alyan), "So, I kinda think we can rescue these guys. But I don't want them to think we want to kill them all to send them into space."
Zero whispers (to Alyan), "And it seems like they might be able to help us find what we're looking for, if it's around here."
Alyan says (to EL), "We came here in a flying vehicle, and it may be possible to take any who wish to go with us back, though the storm is a problem."
Alyan says, "Though if this is your home now, we understand."
Alyan estimates how many people might live here from the size of the city they've seen so far.
GM says (to Alyan), "It's basically like a hive. Except made of stone."
GM says, "There's no knowing exactly how big it is, but it seems densely populated, judging from the number of people who stared at you when you walked past on the way to the Eagle Leader's home."
GM says, "It's all kind of spartan."
[peregaming] Alyan says (to GM), "There are other questions from backlog--Obem asked about the storm."
Alyan says, "How do you find enough food to feed all these people? The land didn't look very robust for farming."
(From GM) Eagle Leader (to Alyan) says, "We hunt. There are creatures down in the depths which are edible, thought unpleasant."
Alyan asks, "Do you have a problem with vermin?"
(From GM) Eagle Leader (to Obem) says, "The storm is calmest here, above the volcano. It is said that long ago, we angered Aquila and a storm froze this world of ours."

Alyan asks, "What do the stories say of the time when it came?"

Obem says, "The Emperor watches even those of his flock who follow his spirit, not his word"
[Crows-Nest] Alyan says, "I figured Alyan would be used to it, and let it slide ;-)"

Alyan says, "Wow, I hope not."

Zero moves aside, while Alyan and Obem are speaking with the Eagle Leader, to check in with 42.
Obem asks (of eagle), "So is there ... technology below? machines and such?"
(From GM) Eagle Leader (to Alyan) says, "Machines? You mean the gifts. Yes."

Obem says, "We should go below then."

Zero asks (of 42), "We're in a cave. We found some locals. Old Imperial Guard unit lost here geneations ago. Can you contact the Fortunate on the guncutter's radios? And is it a strong enough signal for a teleport?"
[peregaming] Zero says, "We are just not nearly a sufficiently grimdark gang of players."

Zero takes a deep breath and seems more composed afterward.
Zero says, "Let's do that."
Zero marches straight to the bridge.
Alyan congratulates the Mecahnicus crew on their way out.
Obem's eyes gleam. "To the guns!"

(From GM) Officer Gaunt turns as you arrive. 'We have a big problem --' they begin, before a hideous face appears on the vox channel.
GM says, "It's green and has tusks, and is wearing a pirate hat with teeth dangling from his ears."
[peregaming] Zero asks, "Ork pirate?"
Obem gnashes her teeth. "Fuckin' orks!" Her fists c�lench and her tentacles swish all over the place.

Obem storms to the gun controls and lays down some fire.
Zero jacks in and sizes up the status.
