Obem asks, "But what would he want with Zero?"

Obem stands with crossed arms, while her tentacles twitch,

Alyan digs around in the folds of his robe, and produces a small kitten, who they solemnly present to Zero.

Zero accepts the gift graciously, then starts looking for a large enough pocket to hold it.

Zero asks, "If the assassins think that Tzeentch is followng me somehow, is there a way to, like, cover up the scent so they don't keep targetting me?"

Alyan says, "That would be good. There may be a ritual I can perform that could help, at least a little."

GM says, "And sure enough, you finally emerge into realspace..."

GM says, "... and suddenly you see right up ahead the system you're about to enter. Most of it is obscured from your immediate vision by an asteroid belt."

[peregaming] GM exclaims, "Time for a Navigation test to figure out where you are!"

[peregaming] GM says (to Zero), "It's kind of cheeky, but I'll allow it exceptionally for RP purposes."

Zero finally figures out which way is down! It's that way!

Zero manages to flip the ship around so its nose is no longer pointing directly toward the planet, and manages brings the craft down, more or less intact, on its roof.

[peregaming] GM says, "Yep"

[peregaming] Zero asks (of Alyan), "Where's that?"

Alyan is thrown against the side of the ship, but their armor manages to absorb the bulk of the damage.

GM says, "Your enginseer, the Adeptus Mechanicus you know only as 42, looks more distressed than hurt."

Obem says, "Helmets on! We're not sure if the air is breathable."

[peregaming] Alyan asks, "If it had penetration, could toughness negate that part? Or not?"

Zero asks (of 42), "Do you think you can do anything to fix this?"

[peregaming] GM says, "Penetration reduces armor"

[peregaming] Zero says, "I think that penetration negates armor."

[peregaming] Zero says, "Then Toughness + any remaining armor negates wounds."

[peregaming] Alyan says, "OK, got it. Thanks."

(From GM) 42 says, "It will take time! Time!"

Obem looks out a window.

GM says, "(42 has a weird mechanical voice that has this reverb to it)"

Zero says, "Alright, we're not in a rush. Yet."

[peregaming] Alyan asks, "Normally, or newly?"

[peregaming] Alyan says, "(the voice)"

Zero says, "You start working on that, and the rest of us will go take a look around."

[peregaming] GM says, "42's voice has always been like that"

[peregaming] Alyan says, "Got it."

Alyan claps 42 on the back. "Good work. Thank you."

(From GM) 42 says, "I shall endeavor to do so, captain! So, Captain!"

Zero pops the hatch and takes a look outside.

[Crows-Nest] Zero says (to Alyan), "So, as we were saying earlier: yes, there's the risk that if you bring extra mooks, they might crash their shuttle into yours."

[peregaming] Obem asks, "So we're landed in the eye of the hurricane?"

GM says (to Zero), "It is extraordinarily cold outside. The wind is a bit less violent closer to the ground, but the snowstorm is still strong. And in the distance you see a large, looming shape that stands out in this mostly flat icy wasteland."

GM says, "It's the shape of a mountain of some sort, with smoke coming out of it."

Zero seals up her voidsuit against the cold.

[Crows-Nest] Alyan says, "Hee"

Obem says (to mooks), "Form a circle around us, chop chop. I'll lead the way"

[peregaming] GM says (to Obem), "You are quite close to the eye, yes, and the eye seems to be centered on the mountain"

Zero points at the mountain. "Smoke. That's our first target. Might just be a volcano; might be whatever's left of the Epsilon. Might be the archeotech we're looking for."

GM says, "The two mooks, dressed in their suits, say to Obem 'y-y-yes s-s-s-sur.'"

GM says, "42 has of course elected to stay behind and do repairs."

[Crows-Nest] Obem wears woolen gloves on her tentacles.

[peregaming] GM asks, "Do you guys have any specific strategy, like how long to walk before turning back, etc?"

[peregaming] Zero says, "Part of my strategy is 'if we get in too much trouble, just have them beam us out'."

[peregaming] Obem asks, "How far away is the mountain, approximately? And how cold is it?"

[peregaming] GM says, "Cold enough that you can't run."

[peregaming] GM says, "Wait, you're using void suit."

[peregaming] GM says, "Hm, that changes things a bit."

[peregaming] Zero says, "Let's walk as about half a day's out, and then reassess."

[Crows-Nest] Obem says, "I can at least leave a trail of destruction, if that helps"

Obem checks all her weapons and takes the lead again.

Alyan tries to leave a friendly 'Hello yourself; we'd like to meet you' note in the snow near the pole.

Obem draws her lascannon and motions her mooks to take position.

GM says, "Someone from inside the cave answers back, but he's not speaking in High or Low Gothic..."

Alyan says, "I... don't understand you! Just a sec."

GM exclaims, "...he's speaking in a language that only Obem can understand... the secret tongue of the Imperial Guard!"

GM says, "Albeit mangled-sounding."

Obem asks (of gm), "What did he say?"

[peregaming] Zero says, "I suppose it would be remarkably unlikely for them to be speaking the local language of whatever space station my orphanage was on."

[peregaming] Zero says, "Timing."

GM says (to Obem), "He said something along the lines of 'drop your weapons if you mean no harm'"

Obem relays that to Zero.

Zero says, "Sure."

Obem asks, "What?"

Zero sets down her weapons.

Alyan exclaims, "Oh!"

Zero says (to Obem), "I'm dropping mine."

Obem exclaims, "That is the easiest trick in the book!"

Zero says, "You don't have to drop yours."

Zero says, "In fact, you should probably cover me."

Alyan sets down their weapons, pulls out their flute, sits down, and plays someething lilting.

Zero holds her hands in the air and walks back to the cave mouth.

[peregaming] Alyan says, "That's a successful performance, whatever effect that might have."

Alyan continues to play, and indicates to Obem that she should translate for Zero.

Obem lowers (put doesn't put away) her weapons, and motions everyone to do the same.

Obem relays that.

Zero offers a hand to shake.

GM says, "It's a person wearing a battered void suit whose helmet has been replaced with an oversized eagle head made of some sort of unknown metal, carrying a lasgun."

GM says, "They say in military secret tongue 'Follow.'"

[peregaming] Zero says, "So, I'm here as a friendly figurehead, but I think maybe Alyan come up with the actual words for us to say here on our side."

[peregaming] Zero says, "Because I am fundamentally bad at socializing, especially with planet-y people."

[peregaming] Zero says (to Obem), "Are you keeping your weapons? (Lowered and/or holstered?)"

[peregaming] Obem says, "Lowered."

Zero says (to Obem), "Can you stick my weapons in a pocket somewhere? I don't want to lose them."

Obem grabs Zero's guns with her tentacles and puts them away.

Zero asks (of Dudes), "So, do you, uh... live here?"

(From GM) Eagle Leader says, "Since the beginning."

Zero asks, "So, before you were born?"

Obem asks, "Are you ... Imperial Guard?"

(From GM) Eagle Leader says, "Imperial? What is that word?"

Zero says (to Obem), "I wonder if they want to be rescued."

Zero asks, "Do you want to return to... Above? With us?"

[Crows-Nest] Obem says, "Somewhere in this group is an Ancient Astronaut kook who is suddenly very smug"

(From GM) Eagle Leader says, "This world of ours... it is harsh. Unforgiving. They say it is better Above, but none but the souls of the departed go there now."

Alyan says, "Oh? Where do they go? [translated]"

(From GM) Eagle Leader says, "When our kin die, we let them go into the volcano. And their ashes rise into the eye of the storm and ascend to the Above."

Alyan says, "That's beautiful. Thank you for sharing that with us."

Obem asks, "The storm... it is always with you?"

Zero whispers (to Alyan), "So, I kinda think we can rescue these guys. But I don't want them to think we want to kill them all to send them into space."

Zero whispers (to Alyan), "And it seems like they might be able to help us find what we're looking for, if it's around here."

Alyan says (to EL), "We came here in a flying vehicle, and it may be possible to take any who wish to go with us back, though the storm is a problem."

Alyan says, "Though if this is your home now, we understand."

Alyan estimates how many people might live here from the size of the city they've seen so far.

GM says (to Alyan), "It's basically like a hive. Except made of stone."

GM says, "There's no knowing exactly how big it is, but it seems densely populated, judging from the number of people who stared at you when you walked past on the way to the Eagle Leader's home."

GM says, "It's all kind of spartan."

Zero asks (of 42), "We're in a cave. We found some locals. Old Imperial Guard unit lost here geneations ago. Can you contact the Fortunate on the guncutter's radios? And is it a strong enough signal for a teleport?"

Alyan puts their hand on Zero's shoulder. "Have faith."
