[CCrusaders] GM says, "This was a large lab, with a high ceiling. In the middle of it was a huge vat of toxic chemicals. A large one-way window overlooked the lab from above."

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "Hostages were tied and gagged nearby, and robotic arms were in place to dump them into the vat. Meanwhile, our villains were continuing to try to summon captured bad guys with the Ball-N-Chayn device, and succeeded at bringing in Hydrolyx and One Man Army!"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "A heroic battle ensued, in which the vat was smashed, splashing chemicals everywhere -- and leaving dangerous puddles all over the lab floor. One Man Army was defeated, the hostages were saved (but still bound and gagged), and Hydrolyx's unconscious body was thrown into the last bit of toxic mix left in the vat (ultimate consequences: unknown)."

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "That last part is entirely Deka's fault"

[CCrusaders] Wanda says, "(That and the vat smashing :D )"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "Ahem! Passive tense!"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "The window to the raised control room was smashed, revealing the Chocolatier and the Gatemaster within. The Gatemaster had created a protective forcefield around the Chocolatier while she worked at a control panel, and he was using the 'Ball' unit to summon the villains, until the heroes took it and destroyed it with the caustic chemicals in the lab."

[CCrusaders] GM asks, "So now there's a huge mess and plenty of destruction, and the heroes are about to face the Chocolatier herself and the Gatemaster. Did I miss anything major?"

[CCrusaders] Cuddlepaws | Maybe Jacob needs to tend to one of the wounded people, and then it turns out they work at the local animal shelter, and they get to talking, and Jacob pretends he needs to watch their blood pressue, but really just wants to keep talking,and the person is super open and vulnerable about their last asshole partner, and Jacob shares some of his woes, and the person says their last partner was a huge asshole and the only one they'd date now is ... a superhero and give Jacob a meaningful glance while they are loaded into the ambulance. Just a thought.

Thanks to the Crusaders, One Man Army has been knocked out cold. Hydrolyx is lying unconscious in the last chemical dregs that remain in the shattered vat. The Half Baker is still sitting atop the chilly roof of the Crownsford police station, and Any Body will remain locked in their cell there now that the Ball-N-Chayn device has been destroyed."

GM says, "But after completely destroying PayneTech's finest chemistry research lab (along with the Chocolatier's plans for revenge), the Crownsford Crusaders are now coming face to face with the Chocolatier herself in the elevated control room overlooking the lab, along with her partner, the Gatemaster."

GM says, "From the end of last session:"

Eben says, "Give it up, Thea! Nobody else can help you, and your quest for revenge is ended! And, uh, I'm sorry you got that power it sucks can I ask how it happened maybe I can help."

Chocolatier says, "It happened because these irresponsible so-called scientists don't care about what happens to their paid test subjects! They don't think they have any responsibility for the consequences of their actions. Apparently it's cheaper to pay someone off and send them away with a non-disclosure contract than it is to try to fix your mistakes."

Eben asks, "That sucks! It looks like you've been working on studying it; what did you figure out?"

GM says, "Jacob and CP are still in the Main Lab, while the rest of the team is in the raised control room along with the Chocolatier and the Gatemaster. And since Jacob hasn't acted yet, I added him at the top of the initiative order."

Barely hanging on while the arm swings upwards, she is flung through the window, like a white cannonball! She hurls past Deka into a file drawer called "INJURY REPORTS" and lands on the ground. "I'm f-" is all she gets out before the file drawer topples over on top of her.

Gatemaster claps his hands together, and there's a sharp, sudden high-pitched whine! Glowing golden lines of force emanate from his hands, quickly expanding to fill the control room!

GM says, "For anyone in that room, when they strike you, you're knocked back and take one physical stress. If you're immune to forced movement, that's all that happens."

GM exclaims, "But if you're not, then you're pushed back through the broken window, tumbling through the air back into the lab below!"

Cuddlepaws exclaims (at gm), "But that's where all the acid is!"

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "Is *any* of us immune to forced movement?"

GM says, "Those of you who are immune to falling damage will land safely. But anyone who isnt' will need to Overcome a +2 obstacle with Athletics or take 4 more stress from landing in the pools of chemicals on the floor."

In the middle of the room are the Chocolatier and the Gatemaster, picking themselves up from a pile of Chocolate Rubble."

But with or without their help, we have options; we always have options." He looks thoughtful. "Maybe we can come up with some sort of silica spray that's thin enough that you can still feel things through it, but will block the transformation? At least for now? And if something happened to create the situation, I'm sure with enough research we could figure out how to reverse it."

Eben takes a couple minutes to switch the portal gun to re-activate the 'base' backup plan instead of the 'basement' backup plan. He hits a button, and the blue portal in the wall flickers and changes to a view of the group's secret base in the quarry.

GM asks (of Eben), "Huh, that's odd. Where's Hydrolyx?"

Cuddlepaws says (to eben), "Hey! Wait! My paws are all burnt out and I threw out my back. Someone needs to carry me."

Eben says, "Oh, crap."

Eben looks for One Man Army.

Wanda picks up Cuddles between her chelicerae gently

GM says, "Kurt is still where you left him, unconscious."

Eben asks (of platform_guyes), "Hey, where did Hydrolyx go?"

Cuddlepaws says (to eben), "We can send OMA to jail for sure."

[Crows-Nest] Wanda says, "For some reason I imagine Kurt flat out on his front like the alt Captain America from Endgame"

GM says (to Eben), "After you ungag them..."

[Crows-Nest] Wanda says, "America's ass"

Randolph Dexter says, "The chemicals in the vat were too much, I think. His body just melted away while you were dealing with that woman."

Wanda is horrified.

Cuddlepaws says, "Oh no."

Randy gestures to one of the gratings in the floor that the chemicals have been slowing draining toward. "Whatever was left of him is down there, somewhere."

Eben says, "Oh, man."

Eben says, "He had water powers; maybe he became water."

Wanda says, "I reall hope so."

Wanda says, "We need to know for sure."

Eben goes down to the grating. "Hey, are you down there? Do you need help? I hope?"

Cuddlepaws says, "Sorry for melting you"

GM says (to Eben), "You only hear your own voice echoing back from the sewer pipes."

Eben, hearing nothing in reply, gathes what samples he can from the tank and from by the drain.

GM exclaims, "You now have a Vial of Hydrolyx' Remains!"

Eben asks (of people), "OK, let's get you out of here. Oh! And where do you keep your [stuff that helps the superhero guy]?"

[CCrusaders] Jacob says, "Oh right. Him."

Randy says, "The resoformacrohydrolinase? It's in that supply closet there behind you. After what you've done tonight, take as much as you need!"

Eben exclaims, "Thanks!"

GM says, "Scene: Eben's house! Some of the former hostages have left, while others are milling about and enjoying Frances' cooking. Upstairs, Supremo -- unconscious and desiccated -- is lying in a guest bed."

[CCrusaders] Eben asks, "Did his (empty) backup supply seem like it was formulated for eating, direct application, or injection?"

[CCrusaders] Wanda asks, "Emo super?"

[CCrusaders] Cuddlepaws asks, "Do we know about the side effects of resurfacemarmaladewhatever? Eespecially the long term effects?"

[CCrusaders] GM says, "Ingestion."

Eben frowns, and taps a few granules into Supremo's mouth.

[CCrusaders] GM says (to CP), "You didn't see anything about dangerous side effects."

GM says (to Eben), "His tongue changes from grey to pink, and you see some moisture inside of his mouth..."

Eben places a few more.

GM exclaims, "And slowly, spreading from the mouth outward, he seems replenished, rehydrated, and after a few minutes, fully recovered!"

Eben asks (of Supremo), "Hey, how are you feeling?"

[CCrusaders] Cuddlepaws asks, "Does his moustache recover?"

Supremo opens his eyes. "Oh... I feel a bit dizzy. But... wait!"

Supremo sits bolt upright. "The criminals! I have to stop them!"

Eben says, "It's OK, we stopped them all."

Supremo says, "Oh! *You* did?"

Eben says, "Didn't *catch* them all, since you weren't here, but we at least stopped them."

Eben exclaims, "But we caught a couple of them!"

Supremo says, "Thank you, citizens! Your efforts will not go unrecognized!"

Eben nods wryly and says, "Happy to help."

Supremo gets out of the bed, stretching his muscles. "I appreciate your aid, Crustacea-- I mean, Crusaders! But now, I must be off!"

Eben exclaims, "Good luck out there!"

GM exclaims, "And with that, he opens the window and flies away!"

Eben exclaims, "I refilled your backup. Don't let it run dry next time!"

Cuddlepaws exclaims, "That guy is so cool!"

Eben says, "That guy would have sent all five of 'em back to jail."

GM says (to Eben), "From the distance, you hear a voice saying 'Thaaaaaanks....'"

GM says, "And some time tomorrow, while the team is in Eben's basement, picking up some gear to bring to the base to help Thea, Jacob notices a news article on his phone."

GM says, "It talks about how One Man Army and Any Body are both safely back in custody! Unfortunately, most of the other escapees are still at large, and Hydrolyx passed away from injuries sustained while resisting arrest."

GM says, "Later in the article, it calls the team out by name, according to an interview with Supremo: 'the Crownsfield Crusaders, made up of the Portalier, Jared, the big spider one, Becca and their pet cat'."

"Hydrolyx: if you need help, let us know. The Quaesitores Perditarum may have saved you, and I think we know more. XXX-2054." He walks away and as his light fades, the water bubbles.

[Crows-Nest] GM says, "(I have the worst timing.)"

[CCrusaders] Eben exclaims, "That was it!"

GM says, "SCENE: The office of Police Commissioner Webb."

Webb says, "Thank you all for coming here. Unfortunately, I have some bad news."

Webb says, "You doubtless remember Dennis Malone, the criminal law attorney whose house you visited looking for the Half Baker, during that recent prison break situation."

Webb says, "He's apparently been doing some research of his own since then, and he had a meeting with the District Attorney."

[CCrusaders] GM exclaims, "And anyone who can come up with some good charges against you will get to have a compel of Threatened By the Law some time during the next arc!"
