Aledonne arrives from the east.
GM has connected.
GM says (to Ale), "Hey, you're here."
Aledonne exclaims, "I am!"
Bert has disconnected.
Bert has connected.
GM says, "So, let's figure out what makes sense and is useful for your character."
GM says, "(Bert was already here, too!)"
Aledonne exclaims, "So he was!"
Aledonne asks, "Which cyphering are we starting with?"
lpsmith says, "So, your schtick is that you can combine things and the total power is equal to the *sum* of the individual parts."
Aledonne says, "I think we already did the ice/fire devices, right? Then there was the recyphering of The Lady's thing, but she's not here right now."
GM says, "(And, switching to GM again)"
GM says, "Yeah, the ice/fire things I just gave you a thing from."
Aledonne says, "And then there was the bit about searching the cat-things' lair for parts and building stuff out of them."
GM says, "Right."
Aledonne asks, "Is it that third one that we're doing?"
GM says, "I was thinking of doing that as perhaps a combination of Investigate followed by a Crafting, for finding stuff and then putting it together into something useful."
GM says, "I'm happy to do the Lady thing, too ;-)"
GM asks, "Does that seem reasonable?"
Aledonne says, "Sounds good. I assume I'll use my Investigation skill from the end of the last session, before I reduced it between sessions."
Aledonne asks, "What's my opposition for Investigation? Or is it just a general 'the higher the better'?"
GM says, "Then it becomes a matter of setting TNs and figuring out what that means. It seems like the sort of thing that shouldn't just be a straight TN, but instead be something like 'every point above X you get a Y'."
GM says, "In my last game, I had people roll, and every 2 points above the TN, they'd get a randomly-rolled cypher, and if they had an odd number, they'd get n+1 options and could pick n."
GM says, "(for the crafting part)"
Aledonne says, "That's neat."
GM says, "I guess I don't need to worry too much about balance, since there's a natural upper limit of how many cyphers the party can carry."
Aledonne tries to keep a straight face.
GM says, "Ha."
GM says, "The potentially unbalancing part is your recombination stunt ;-)"
GM says, "But even there, they're still going to be one-use items."
Aledonne says, "I wasn't going tto mention it until, y'know, later..."
Aledonne says, "True."
GM says, "So the 'level' of an item hasn't often been used, but the range of levels in the book is 1-10 (often translated as 1d6+(0-4))"
GM says, "So even if you recombine things, I think the official max limit should still be a 10, unless you're doing something special."
Aledonne says, "I suppose that's fair."
GM says, "(or increase the TN if you want something higher, perhaps)"
Aledonne asks, "Do we start with the Investigation part?"
GM asks, "OK, what about this: an Investigate roll sets the TN of the Crafts roll?"
Aledonne asks, "Huh, interesting. I assume Crafting opposition will = N - Investigation opposition?"
GM says, "And some areas are easier to find stuff in, setting the TN of the Investigate in the first place."
Aledonne asks, "Or is it that the number of shifts of success on Investigation will reduce the opposition on Crafts?"
GM think think think.
GM says, "I guess effectively that's just 'add your Investigate to your Crafting vs. a higher-than-normal TN'."
Aledonne says, "True."
Aledonne says, "Alternately, if you want to make it more Fate-y, you could call the Investigation roll a Create Advantage."
GM says, "Unless we want to say that failed Investigate rolls mean you can't find anything to craft in the first place."
GM says, "Yeah, I was thinking of that, too."
Aledonne says, "To provide an aspect that will boost or hamper (depending on success or failure) the Crafts roll."
GM says, "It feels more like a, whatchacall Contest or whatever."
Aledonne asks, "Should I assume from all this that you were never 100% satisfied with the mechanic you used for it with your other group?"
GM says, "Yeah, I think I like that. A Contest with an Investigate part and a Crafts part. If both succeed, add shifts of success from both together, and that determines how many cyphers you can make, minimum of 1."
GM says (to Aledonne), "I wasn't quite running vanilla FATE in the first place for the other group ;-)"
Aledonne says, "That sounds good."
Aledonne says, "Ha."
GM says, "I stole some ideas from 7th Sea v2 and mixed them in."
Aledonne says, "Oh, huh, neat."
Aledonne asks, "Should I assume that Grav is assisting with the Investigation roll?"
GM says, "(Basically, I broke down things people tried to do into shift costs, and whatever you rolled, you could spend on succeeding at those parts, your choice.)"
Aledonne asks, "Hmm. What if one fails and one succeeds?"
GM says, "(So if you were trying to cross a river without being seen, it'd cost 3 shifts to get across the river, and 2 to be unseen or something.)"
GM says, "And if you rolled 3, you could either successfully hide on this side of the river, or cross and be seen."
Aledonne says, "Interesting."
GM says, "Or, more simply, X to do a thing, and Y to avoid taking damage while doing so."
GM says, "Nobody was ever succeeding at a cost, and I thought that might help get more mixed successes."
GM exclaims, "But anyway!"
GM says, "So: a contest with an Investigate part and a Crafts part. Investigate TN more likely to vary than the Crafts, because once you have stuff, you can make stuff out of it kind of normally, whatever the situation. Some places might have 'richer' or 'poorer' things to find, I suppose."
Aledonne nods.
Aledonne asks, "Do you need to succeed at both in order to successfully make anything?"
GM says, "Yes, but a tie-through-2 all mean 'you make a thing'."
GM says, "Oh, maybe I could do a minor cost thing that there's a side-effect if you get really low."
Aledonne asks, "Through 2?"
GM says, "Because that seems fun."
Aledonne nods.
GM says (to Aledonne), "Yeah, normally you create shifts/2 things."
[Numenera] GM says, "So 2 shifts = 1 thing."
GM says, "Whoops ;-)"
Aledonne says, "Oh, I see."
Aledonne asks, "Also, I think The Lady wanted a GM-rolled item -- should I do her Crafts roll first?"
Aledonne says, "(To recypher the tattoo.)"
GM says, "I guess if you got a 3, you could either get 'roll 2 choose 1' or 'roll 2, both have unknown side effect'."
GM asks (of Ale), "I think you were thinking of putting the tattoo on an arrow?"
Aledonne says, "I was, but I thought Taleslinger wanted to go with randomness."
GM exclaims, "Could be!"
GM says, "Not that he's gaming with us any more on this anyway ;-)"
GM looks it up.
Aledonne says, "True. But I could always get a boost from a good warm-up roll... :)"
GM exclaims, "Ha!"
GM | The_Lady asks, "So I now have the arrow?"
Aledonne | [Numenera] Aledonne asks (of GM), "If I want to try to re-cypher the antipathy emitter, do I decide what I'm trying to make, or do I just roll and see what I get?"
Aledonne | [Numenera] GM says (to Aledonne), "That's a very good question."
Aledonne | [Crows-Nest] The_Lady says, "I like the random reroll option."
Aledonne | [Numenera] GM says, "If you can think of something interesting, you can go for that. The TN would depend on how closely the effect you're after matches the effects the originals have."
Aledonne | [Numenera] GM says, "Or you can go for a low TN 'take whatever the GM rolls on the table'."
Aledonne | [Numenera] Aledonne says, "I was imagining applying the tattoo to an arrow (or whatever), so that whatever is hit by it takes the effect, but not everything else in the room."
Aledonne | [Numenera] Aledonne says, "But if The Lady likes the random reroll, I am happy to go with that."
Aledonne | [Numenera] GM asks, "OK, let's say that you start messing with that to figure out what you can do, and we figure out the specifics between sessions?"
GM says, "That's what made me think he thought the arrow idea was good."
[Numenera] Aledonne says (to GM), "Oh, good point."
Aledonne says, "Yeah, fair enough."
Aledonne asks, "So! What's my target?"
GM asks, "For the contest, or the reciphering?"
Aledonne exclaims, "Any and all of them!"
GM says, "OK, for straight investigate/crafts, it seems like a TN of 3 for both would be reasonable."
GM says, "Reciphering I'll have to invent Yet More Mechanics ;-)"
GM asks, "Like, maybe you could use an unwanted cipher as a +2 to the Crafts part of that?"
Aledonne says, "I thought we already invented a mechanic where the recyphering TN was related to the level. Like 1/2 or something."
Aledonne exclaims, "OK, Investigation!"
GM says, "And yes, Grav can help."
Aledonne rolls Superb (5) + 4dF: +1 -1 +1 -1 | Superb (5)
GM exclaims, "Success!"
Aledonne exclaims, "However!"
GM says, "uh-oh"
Aledonne says, "As a Student of the Children of Lost Words, I have read many accounts of adventurers doing just this sort of thing, so I know exactly what to look for."
Aledonne spends a fate point, leaving him with 2.
Aledonne says, "For 4 shifts."
GM says, "Note to self: let Aledonne investigate ruins at the *start* of sessions."
Aledonne says, "Hee."
Aledonne exclaims, "And now, the Crafts!"
Aledonne rolls Superb (5) + 4dF: +1 0 -1 0 | Superb (5)
Aledonne says, "And of course, as a Wandering Nano Who Recombines Magics, I have a knack for ritting random odds and ends into useful things."
Aledonne spends a fate point, leaving him with 1.
Aledonne says, "For another 4 shifts."
Aledonne asks, "A total of eight shifts of success, for four new cyphers?"
GM exclaims, "Yup!"
Aledonne says, "(Whoops, need to go AFK for a sec while you look those up...)"
GM | 329: Panoramic Capture Ball (level 6): 6-inch synth ball in which you can see an electronic device and a series of glass lenses. When thrown in the air and it reaches its peak, it records a picture of the area, which is then displayed on the surface of the ball.
GM | 81: Demonsphere (level unknown): 6-inch orb of steel lattice with a reflective red sphere in its center. When broken open, a number of red lances of energy streak out to strike the nearest intelligent beings, causing them to be taken over and controlled by being of an unknown origin, for a number of rounds. The being seem to have consistent-to-them motivations, but are utterly alien and incomprehensible (p44).
GM | 436: Still Field (level 3): Suspenders that, once activated, prevent the user from being observed by any device that tracks movement (radar, sonar, etc.) or by any creature that uses sonar or something similar for 28 hours.
GM | 348: Portable Steed (level 3): Mechanical bowl that, if upended and twisted to activate, will unfold into a giant tortoise-like creature, large enough to carry two human-sized riders, for seven hours. Despite its tortoisian appearance, its land and water speed is roughly equivalent to a human jog. Shatters into oddities at the end.
GM says, "(yay rolling these up earlier ;-)"
GM says, "Oh, right, TN related to cypher level."
Aledonne says, "Back."
Aledonne asks, "So I believe that Peregrine, josh, Ellric and I are all confirmed to still be playing, right? Do we know about Roger?"
GM asks, "I think so?"
Aledonne asks, "And how many free cypher slots do each of them have now?"
GM says, "I put the current list on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1h88N6VTO6dtQ2RVzk1tqx4NdA5PNyShAjpXcoVjhU8M/edit#gid=908588252"
GM says, "On the right."
Aledonne checks their sheets to find out their maximums.
Aledonne says, "(Crafts/2, rounded up, +1?)"
GM says, "Correct."
GM says, "We should probably have permanent slots there and move them out when used."
Aledonne says, "0/1 for Catrina, 1/2 for Molly, 1/1 for Kay, 2/1 (?) for Grav."
Aledonne says, "Yeah, that would be a good idea."
Aledonne says, "Oh, and 3/4 for me."
Aledonne says, "Which means we have three open slots between us. So I'll recombine two of these things into something new."
GM says, "Hmm, maybe Grav changed his sheet."
Aledonne asks, "Did the Lightning Wall Projector go to me or to Molly?"
Aledonne says, "As a non-violent individual, I feel awkward about the Demon Sphere, so I'm going to recypher that."
GM says, "OK, yes, and Grav's sheet now updated."
Aledonne says, "Along with... the Portable Steed, perhaps. I have an idea."
Aledonne asks, "Can I convert them into a bowl wrapped in steel lattice that, if I throw it at a creature or object, it will break open and unfold into a giant tortoise-like creature which encases the target, functioning as the steed and *also* imprisoning them inside for the duration?"
GM says, "I'm not remembering what we were thinking of before for reciphering rules, sadly."
GM says, "I do agree that setting the TN at half the level was a thing, but I don't remember what that thing was *for*."
Aledonne says, "I think we were imagining a TN that was 1/2 the level of the target."
Aledonne asks, "I thought it was for the resultant cypher I was creating?"
GM asks, "As a base, basically?"
GM says, "I did think it probably made sense for 'sounds similar' TNs to be easier than 'that is completely different' TNs."
Aledonne says, "Yeah. So if I wanted something that would be level 8, the base opposition would be 4, and then you'd raise or lower it based on how similar/different it was from the cyphers I was starting with."
GM says, "But maybe we should just always go with things that sound sufficiently similar."
GM asks, "Do you want to be able to set the target level yourself? Or is it always the sum of the ciphers, max 10?"
Aledonne says, "To be honest, I'm not even really sure how levels actually work in practice."
GM says, "Yeah, me neither."
Aledonne says, "Ha ha."
Aledonne asks, "OK, new idea: what if we just threw out the idea of levels entirely?"
GM says, "They have Numenera-rules effects sometimes, but there's not always an obvious FATE-rules equivalent."
GM says, "I guess the level has helped me generally set the power level of a thing."
GM says, "Like, the singularity-in-a-box had a stated level of '10' so I knew I should just give it a huge effect."
Aledonne nods.
GM says, "It also sort of seems like a more powerful cipher should be *easier* to transform into something else, since there's more to work with."
GM says, "(in an in-fiction sense)"
Aledonne says, "One could argue that part of the difficulty could be related to the *difference* in power levels between what you start with and what you end with."
GM asks, "You think it'd be hard to make a less-powerful thing out of a powerful thing?"
Aledonne says, "So if you're combining a level 3 and a level 8, you've got 11 levels to work from, and if your goal is a level 7 thing, then you can reduce the TN by the equivalent of 4 levels."
Aledonne exclaims (at GM), "Just the opposite!"
GM says, "OK. You said 'difference' which I read as 'absolute difference' ;-)"
Aledonne says, "Going in the other direction, from a level 7 thing to a level 11 thing, would increase the TN."
Aledonne says, "(Ignoring the lack of level 11 things.)"
GM says, "Yes, that does indeed seem reasonable."
Aledonne says, "All of this having been said, one of the two things I wanted to recypher is listed as '(level unknown)'."
GM says, "So, like, the power level of the Imprisoning Steed would affect how long it would last, etc."
Aledonne nods.
GM asks, "Would you want to know how long it would last at different power levels before setting your TN?"
Aledonne asks, "Yeah -- say, what if I kept it at the same duration as the original version?"
[Setting the zoned flag.]
GM says, "Like, I don't want to get in the situation where you say "OK, I'm going for a power level of 5" and then roll, and I then I say, "OK, it lasts for 10 minutes" and then you're all "Oh. If I had known that, I'd have gone for a power level of 9.""
Aledonne says, "Yeah, that would be unfortunate."
Aledonne asks, "So, the original lasts for seven hours; what would be the TN if I kept the Imprisoning version for 7 hours too?"
GM says, "So, let's say that the variable bits of the ciphers are generally the same as the original power level, and if that's too much, you could ask something like, "I don't think I can make that TN; how long will it last if I drop the power level to 5?""
Aledonne nods.
GM says, "So! Let me look up the Demonsphere in the book to remind myself what I was thinking."
Aledonne exclaims, "OK!"
GM says, "Ah, yes."
GM says, "OK: for this one, I'm going to RP a bit, I think."
Aledonne says, "Ooh."
GM says, "INTERLUDE: Aledonne is hiking back to Glissandra, fiddling with his cyphers to see what he can do with them."
GM says (to Aledonne), "The Demonsphere is unlike a lot of other cyphers you've worked with in the past. You found this intact in the Aorix lair, and haven't messed with it at all yet."
Aledonne furrows his brow thoughtfully.
GM says, "You think you could probably combine it with the Steed. You're just not entirely confident something *else* wouldn't happen as well."
GM says, "<end>"
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "Is this something along the lines of 'the steed is possessed' or 'the demons escape and potentially cause problems later' or 'the GM waits to decide later what will be most interesting' or...?"
[Numenera] GM says, "Well, other than Aledonne not knowing what a GM is, those all seem like potential outcomes, yes."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Hee."
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "Well, if I don't know IC what's likely to happen, then I shall forge on ahead!"
Aledonne tries to be careful not to actively possess anyone *while* tinkering with the cyphers, but otherwise, he continues with his plan.
GM asks, "You tinker away! What are you attempting?"
Aledonne exclaims, "To build the Imprisoning Steed!"
Aledonne says, "Similar to the the current version, except that when it's activated, it'll also trap one person or thing inside of it."
[Numenera] GM asks, "So, another TN 3?"
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "Sure!"
Aledonne rolls Superb (5) + 4dF: 0 -1 0 +1 | Superb (5)
[Numenera] GM says, "Oops, I meant *cypher level* 3, and mistyped."
[Numenera] GM says, "Sorry."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Oh -- I would have thought it would be a higher cypher level, since it can do more."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "But that seems like your judgment call."
[Numenera] GM asks, "That seems reasonable: what cypher level are you aiming for, roughly?"
[Numenera] GM says, "(sort of 'how much of the power of the demon sphere do you want to retain in the new thing?')"
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "I'm aiming at keeping all the features of the steed, including the 7 hour duration, and adding the imprisoning effect -- how much do you think the imprisoning effect would add?"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "I mean, it sounds pretty powerful to me, but then a head transplanter sounds pretty powerful to me too."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "So I'm not sure how to put a number on that."
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "5? 7? 9?"
[Numenera] GM says, "Let's say 4. Which is, you can at least tell, lower than its existing power level. Higher would mean it would be harder to break out of."
[Numenera] GM says, "For a total of 7."
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "OK!"
[Numenera] GM says, "And you can increase that if you want."
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "What would the TN be if the level is 7?"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "(Based on similarity to the original cyphers and and power level differentials and all that.)"
[Numenera] GM says, "Right, hrm hrm."
[Numenera] GM says, "Setting appropriate TNs is by far the hardest part of GMing FATE ;-)"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "I can't disagree with that."
[Numenera] GM says, "I'm probably overthinking things, but as the template for future attempts, I'd like to get it 'right'."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Or, if not 'right', at least to have thought it through enough that you know what to tweak in the future if it's turns out not to be right."
[Numenera] GM says, "Yeah."
[Numenera] GM asks, "I guess in the end, I'm thinking that more powerful things are base-TN harder to make than lower-power things, and the power differential (if any) can increase that or lower that. Does that seem reasonable?"
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "Sure?"
[Numenera] GM exclaims, "OK!"
[Numenera] GM says (to Aledonne), "You figure that if this behaves like a normal cypher, it'd be a TN 5 task."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "OK! That sounds reasonable."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Now, all of that having been said, back before we'd worked all this out, my stunt was:"
[Numenera] Aledonne | Recyphering: When combining and converting cyphers, the resultant cypher's power is equal to all of the original cyphers' combined.
[Numenera] GM exclaims, "I know!"
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "Under these new mechanics, does that still make sense as a stunt?"
[Numenera] GM says, "I think the way to re-word the stunt would be 'When combining and converting cyphers, you can use the full sum of the cypher's power level to decrease the difficulty of the task'."
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "OK!"
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "(And that doesn't change any of the math we just did, right?"
[Numenera] GM says, "And for a 'normal' Crafts-person, they could only use one cypher power level when combining things, or half the level of a single cypher when recyphering."
[Numenera] GM says, "Right."
Aledonne rolls Superb (5) + 4dF: -1 +1 +1 -1 | Superb (5)
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "A tie!"
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "For a minor cost... perhaps I start the next session with one Mental stress from the exertion?"
GM exclaims (at Aledonne), "As you work on your cyphers, you get the steed all prepared, and then attempt to add in the demonsphere. Surprisingly, however, you sense active opposition to your task!"
GM rolls Superb (5) + 4dF: 0 +1 0 0 | Fantastic (6)
[Numenera] GM says, "Would you like to succeed at a cost? HINT HINT"
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "Oooh!"
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "Sure!"
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "I *was* about to spend a fate point, but I am not one to ignore a blatant plot hook!"
[Numenera] GM says, "Good, because I had six fate points myself ;-)"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Ha ha."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "(I assume you're typing up further narration?)"
GM says, "As you carefully titrate out what seems to be a sort of liquid from the center of the sphere so you can use the lattice to power a cage, a bit splashes onto your finger. Startled, you go to shake it off... and then you're done. Your Imprisoning Steed is finished, pretty much exactly the way you were envisioning it. You just don't remember actually *doing* it. You look at the others, but nobody seems to have noticed anything, or at any rate, they're unconcerned. As you go to put the bowl back in your pack, the setting sun hits it just right, and it's a very pretty red around the edge."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Ooh."
[Numenera] GM says, "And that's it from me! Unless you have more questions ;-)"
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "This is how I'm adding it to my sheet -- any recommended tweaks?"
[Numenera] Aledonne | Imprisoning Steed. Mechanical bowl bound in a steel lattice with red trim. Unfolds into a giant tortoise-like creature, encasing one target creature or object. It's large enough to carry two human-sized riders for seven hours. Despite its tortoisian appearance, its land and water speed is roughly equivalent to a human jog. Shatters into oddities at the end, releasing its captive. May have Unpredictable Side Effects (Level 7)
[Numenera] GM says, "I assume that the riders would be different from the encased creature? That sounds perfect."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "As for the other two cyphers, I assume they'll go to Molly and Catrina, since they're the ones with free slots."
[Numenera] Aledonne says (to GM), "Yeah, I was assuming the same."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "I added the cyphers to the sheet, and they can read this transcript and argue over who gets what if they don't like where I put them."
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "Oh, should I also roll for The Lady's arrow?"
[Numenera] GM asks, "Didn't someone take the Harassing companion?"
[Numenera] GM asks, "Whoever had the Steel Sentinel, perhaps?"
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "Oh, I forgot about that!"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "In that case, I think we still have one extra cypher now."
[Numenera] GM asks, "So, Catrina can pick the Field or the Ball?"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Yeah."
[Numenera] GM asks, "And you can recombine the other one?"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Yeah. I might recombine it with the detonator or lightning wall."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Or if someone else has something they'd like to recombine, that's fine with me."
[Numenera] GM asks, "Or you can use it when recyphering the tattoo?"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "(Roger is actually here now, but he's idle.)"
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims (at GM), "Or that!"
[Numenera] Roger says, "Yeah I'm back off to bed soon"
[Numenera] Roger says, "but I'll be around"
[Numenera] GM asks (of Roger), "You want to pick a cypher before you sleep?"
[Numenera] GM | 329: Panoramic Capture Ball (level 6): 6-inch synth ball in which you can see an electronic device and a series of glass lenses. When thrown in the air and it reaches its peak, it records a picture of the area, which is then displayed on the surface of the ball.
[Numenera] GM | 436: Still Field (level 3): Suspenders that, once activated, prevent the user from being observed by any device that tracks movement (radar, sonar, etc.) or by any creature that uses sonar or something similar for 28 hours.
[Numenera] Roger says, "436 ninja suspenders is pretty much up Catrina's alley, so let's run with that."
[Numenera] GM says, "Perfect."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "So that leaves the panoramic capture ball as the extra."
[Numenera] GM says, "combining that with the tattoo seems like you could throw it up in the air and *every zone it could see* would suffer the effects ;-)"
[Numenera] Aledonne exclaims, "That sounds exactly like the opposite of what Taleslinger wanted!"
[Numenera] GM exclaims, "I know!"
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "Could I recypher it with the lightning wall projector -- the one that projects lightning in a 30x30 wall -- so that instead of just having a 2D image on the surface of the ball, I can have a 30x30 foot detailed 3D projection of the image from the ball?"
[Numenera] GM intones "Sometimes, in order to get what you want, you must be given the opposite of what you want."
[Numenera] GM asks, "Like, and electricity-powered hologram or something?"
[Numenera] GM says, "s/and/an/"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Yeah. Minus doing damage to everyone."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Or I could hold off and wait and see if any other players want to take the ball (or get their stuff recyphered)."
[Numenera] GM says, "You could combine it with the Head Transferrence Collar, and when you throw it up in the air, the heads of two creatures it can see get swapped."
[Numenera] GM says, "V. useful at parties."
[Numenera] Aledonne asks, "Two? Why only two?"
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "The heads of *all* the creatures it can see get swapped."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "But letting everyone else have a shot is probably fairest."
[Numenera] GM says, "Anyway, I like the hologram idea."
[Numenera] GM says, "And yeah."
[Numenera] Aledonne says, "Me too! It'll be my fallback if no one else lays a claim."
GM has disconnected.
Aledonne goes home.
Aledonne has disconnected.
