npc2 arrives, looking for booty.
[7thsea] Bert says, "Log on."
[7thsea] GM says (to ggg), "We're in the 'walk the plank' room."
[7thsea] GM asks, "Did the transcript get posted?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Nope"
genericgeekgirl arrives, looking for booty.
GM exclaims, "Greetings!"
Penelope says, "Hello."
GM exclaims, "So, to recap!"
Talbert says, "Penello 'ello"
GM says, "The La Reina chapter of Los Vagos, which consists of Penolope, Talbert, Don Miguel, and their underlings, was tasked with rescuing la abuela Mari from being secretly transported by The Inquisition after having been secretly seized for speaking out about their practices. The Plan turned out to be that Don Miguel and Talbert were waiting in trees above the route and dropped onto the carriage."
GM says, "In the meantime, it turned out that Johann was *also* captured by the inquisition and was being transported on the same prison carriage (disguised to look normal) and has been fighting to get out at the same time the Heroes are fighting to get in."
GM says, "The tide was turning towards the heroes when a horse led by a man, carrying a young girl appeared in front of the racing carriage. It turns out that both sides of the conflict want them to not notice anything untoward going on."
Penelope says, "BRB. I think the wee one is waking up, and Amdi isn't home. I'll catch up in a sec."
GM exclaims, "Sounds good!"
GM says, "We're at the top of the round, with Talbert going on phases 5, 6, 8; Don going on 3, 4, 9, Johann on 6, 7, the remaining guard (on top of the carriage) on 5, 7, 10, the Priest (inside the carriage) on 2, 2, 5, and the Driver on 1, 4, 6."
[7thsea] GM says, "(to figure out what phases you go on, you roll Nd10, where N is your Panache. You go on those phases, with 1 first and 10 last)"
[7thsea] GM says, "(You can interrupt any action and go before it by spending two of your later-phase dice if you want, i.e. Don could spend his 4 and 9 to go before the Driver on 1.)"
[7thsea] GM says, "You can also spend a single later-phase die to do an 'active defense' if someone attacks you and gets past your 'passive defense', which is often Footwork/Parry, but has been 'Balance' on top of the carriage."
[7thsea] GM says, "But active defense is Wits, so people with low Wits haven't been using it much ;-)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Likewise, people whose characters have low Wits."
[7thsea] Talbert asks (of GM), "Wait, so does Lightening Reflexes reduce the die cost to 1 for doing an active defense on an interrupt action?"
Roger arrives, looking for booty.
[7thsea] Talbert says, "(I happent to have that as an advantage)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, ""Lightening Reflexes: : When you use an Interrupt Action to make an Active Defense, it costs you one less Action Die than normal""
GM says, "So! I'm going to say that the other group's Suspicion starts at 40. On their phases, I'll have them roll Wits to see if they figure out anything's going on with the TN of their Suspicion. When you want to do something, I'll tell you how suspicious it is, and if you choose to do it, their TN decreases by that amount. You can try for a Raise to do it in a non-suspicious manner (5 less for every raise)."
Johann arrives, looking for booty.
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "Hello, hello, I am totally here and not at all still finishing up stuff"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Hmm. I think in the official rules, it counts as an Interrupt (and thus uses two dice, like a regular interrupt action). But that we house ruled it to only cost one, because otherwise it was so costly no one ever used it."
[7thsea] GM says (to Talbert), "Oh, right, hmm. I was going to house-rule that interrupt actions cost only one to defend yourself. Also, what Don said. I wonder if Lightning Reflexes reducing that to zero would be too powerful, or if it'd be OK."
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "I feel you, Johann"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "(Sondheim reference!)"
[7thsea] GM exclaims (at Johann), "You can recap #thea to see the room chat!"
[7thsea] GM says, "(whoops, #theah)"
GM says, "You can also spend your action doing something explicitly non-suspicious to increase the TN again."
Johann asks, "Is punching a priest in the face suspicious?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "What if it reduced it to 0, but only once per round?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "So if you wanted to actively defend a second time, you would need to spend an action."
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "This needs to be the new channel topic for 7th sea: Johann asks, "Is punching a priest in the face suspicious?""
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "got my vote"
DonMiguel exclaims (at Johann), "Not if nobody sees you do it!"
[7thsea] GM asks, "That works for me. Talbert?"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "Once per round seems perfect!"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Sold!"
[7thsea] GM says, "So, let's see. Let's have the passersby go on 3, 6, and 9 instead of rolling for it, since they're not actively involved."
[7thsea] GM asks, "And I guess I'll have them go on their 1's and 2's, and hope that by then ggg is back?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Did Penelope roll her init yet?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "She might be on 1 or 2."
[7thsea] GM says, "She did not."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Also, as for where everyone is..."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "I'm standing on top of the carriage, fencing with the one remaining guard. Talbert is sitting on the bench in front, next to the driver?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Correct! And Johann is in the main carriage area with the priest, and Mari is in the back, behind the splintered door."
[7thsea] GM says, "The once-open door is on the right side of the carriage; the passersby are passing on the left."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "And the priest has tied the exit door shut with something (string? a ribbon? a rosary?), but only Johann knows that so far?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Talbert is in perfect position for him and the driver to pretend to be just friends :D"
[7thsea] GM says, "(The door was open and is jury-rigged closed again with wire from the inside by the Priest)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "(or just people having a mild disagreement about horses)"
[7thsea] GM says, "Wait, no, a rosary is funnier."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Just horsin' around, as it were"
[7thsea] GM says, "snort"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "and +1 for the rosary detail"
[7thsea] Johann says, "Three little orphans, one, two, three"
[7thsea] GM says, "OK, having the driver/priest do their thing; ggg can have held her actions if she rolls 'em."
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "Is there a different room where everything's happening? Feeling like I'm missing things"
Driver waves in a friendly manner to the man and girl, and casually opens a box under his seat, which he doesn't need to roll for. Then he tries to pull out the pistol within while looking casual, which he does need to roll for, TN 15 or suspicion-5:
[7thsea] Driver rolls 3k3: 5 3 2 | 10
[7thsea] Johann asks, "Rolls where attribute plus skill, right?"
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "oh there it is"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "The Seventh Sea is the right room. We were just waiting on some players who were delayed."
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "okay thx"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "So much for german punctuality"
GM exclaims, "Unfortunaely, a ray of light through the evening clouds catches the metal of the pistol, and the man frowns slightly!"
GM sets suspicion to 35.
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Trait + Skill, keep Trait."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "E.g., with a Trait of 2 and a Skill of 3, you'd roll 5k2."
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "Gotcha, thanks for the refresher"
Priest realizes there's someone passing by, and throws open the curtains so they can see inside the carriage! This ends up somewhat revealing that the carriage itself is not normal, and the Suspicion TN decreases by another 3. He then holds his other '2' action, waiting fearfully for what Johann migth try to do next!
GM sets suspicion to 32.
[7thsea] GM says, "Hmm, no ggg yet. Don, take your 3 and then we'll wait to see if Penelope can do anything before the old man rolls at the end of 3."
DonMiguel exchanges a quick glance with the guard he's in the middle of a life or death struggle with. They both seem to realize that this is a bad look. So Miguel grabs the right side of the carriage and tries to quickly climb down and enter the door (which, as far as he knows, should still be unlocked).
[7thsea] GM says, "OK! Hmm."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Oh yeah, do I remember there being a reward for helping come up with excuses for us not wanting to raise suspicion? (A drama die, possibly?)"
[7thsea] GM says, "If you like, since the door is actually locked, I'll just say that you end up hanging off the edge of the carriage, unable to open the door, then Suspicion TN decreases by a d10, and you get a drama die for being interesting. Or I can figure out something to roll instead of the drama die/suspicion."
[7thsea] Penelope ugh. Sorry. I'm here now and they are at the park.
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "There was!"
[7thsea] GM exclaims (at Penelope), "No problem!"
[7thsea] GM says, "Also, everyone's drama dice have refreshed, plus any that you earned last time and didn't spend."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "nice"
[Crows-Nest] Johann asks, "How much do you usually go?"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "*get"
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Your lowest trait (so, 1 for everyone but Don.)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks (of GM), "How tightly is it closed? I.e., when I try the door, can I pull it enough to see the rosary tied to it?"
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "(but can increase later if you spend XP to increase it.)"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "thanks"
[7thsea] GM says, "I'll say it wiggles enough that you can tell it's not latched, but not enough to see what by."
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "OK, then I'll go with the drama die and suspicion!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 1k1: 1 | 1
[7thsea] Talbert says, "wow"
DonMiguel curses under his breath. Not because of the roll, which he's unaware of IC, but because of that door being somehow locked again!
GM sets suspicion to 31.
[7thsea] GM exclaims (at Penelope!), "Roll 3d10 for initiative to see what phases you act on!"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Oh man. I just rolled panache d10 and got 3 10s. So I guess I'm just totally last last last."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Rolled in Google so I did'nt want to interrupt"
[7thsea] GM says, "Ha."
[7thsea] GM asks, "Are you sure they were d10s and not 10s?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "ha"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I'm never going to get that roll again when 10s are good."
[7thsea] GM says, "Ha."
[7thsea] GM says, "OK, in the interest of you not just spectating the entire first round, we can say that you get one action held from the previous round as well, since this was all Part Of The Plan."
[7thsea] GM says, "(unless you're bereft of ideas, which is also fine.)"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I'm still sort of catching up to see what's going on."
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "this kinda reminds me of Blades in the Dark, now that I look at it just right"
[7thsea] GM says, "For your introduction to the scene, you can have anything you like and appear from anywhere, with or without your Stalwart Companion (who you can also introduce later as Part of The Plan if you like.)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "I'd be happy with Penelope having a held action from last round that she can call in at whatever point she's ready."
[7thsea] GM says, "Sure, let's just have the passersby roll their wits, then."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Maybe the Stalwart Companion has a Stalwart Carriage"
[7thsea] OldMan rolls 3k2: 10+3 3 4 | 17
[7thsea] Roger says, "Stalwart Pony"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(Also, it's slightly confusing calling this stat Suspicion, since it seems to be more... Lack of Suspicion? If I'm understanding it right?)"
OldMan waves brightly at the Driver and Talbert. "Hullo! Good day to you."
[7thsea] GM says, "Yeah, it's the suspicion TN, so higher is harder to hit."
[7thsea] GM says, "Maybe Tranquility ;-)"
Talbert waves back in a friendly fashion.
GM renames Suspicion 31 to Tranquility 31.
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Which brings us to 4, where Don goes first and then the Driver!"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel asks, "Tranquility 31 is that new SF series set on a moonbase ten years in the future, right?"
[7thsea] GM says, "(and Penelope whenever)"
DonMiguel still has his sword in hand, so he tries to jamb it into the gap between the door and the frame to jimmy or cut whatever it is that's holding it shut.
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Definitely a pony, haha. Ricco won the loan of a very handsome pony in some sort of gambling game. But only one. And only temporarily. But I suppose we can show up from a slightly hidden sideroad in a bit, or something."
[7thsea] Penelope says, ""as planned in advance""
[7thsea] GM says, "Of course."
[7thsea] Johann says, "All according to plan ... B"
[7thsea] GM says, "I am now remembering what it was like to make up rolls and TNs all the time ;-)"
[7thsea] GM says, "OK, let's see."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "I'm guessing that doesn't fall under Attack (Fencing)... and it's probably a stretch to call it Surgery."
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "Pretty sure I saw them play in Cologne last year"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "(I just noticed my oddly apropos 'jamb' error. Brains are weird.)"
[Setting the zoned flag.]
[7thsea] GM asks, "Yeah, I think so. Let's say straight Finesse (unless you can argue some knack applies), and TN 25 since you're hanging by your other hand trying to do this, and the door is relatively tight. Success means your sword is successfully in the gap, and it'll be a much lower TN to cut the rosary next time. I guess?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "OK! Would a raise let me cut it now?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Oh, and Tranquility, because I can't make things easy on myself. Given that you're on the far side of the carriage, let's just set it at 3 from the noise."
[7thsea] GM says, "Sure, why not."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "I'll take the raise! TN 30..."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(Preparing my drama dice.)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 4k4: 9 5 8 5 | 27
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 1k1: 1 | 1
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 1k1: 2 | 2
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "That's 30, and ties go to the PCs!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Yay"
[7thsea] Johann says, "woohoo"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Those dice were very reluctant"
GM sets Tranquility to 27.
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Go ahead and rp!"
(From DonMiguel) Inside the carriage, the point of a sword suddenly appears coming through the doorframe! It jiggles and jerks, and then suddenly it cuts through the rosary, scattering beads all over the floor of the carriage.
DonMiguel swings open the door and lands on his feet, still clinging to the doorframe for balance.
DonMiguel exclaims, "Aha!"
Johann exclaims, "Was zum Teufel!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "I forget, do we know Johann yet? Or is this our first meeting?"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "This is your first meeting!"
DonMiguel . o O ( Uh oh. This Eisen guard looks worse than the one on the roof. )
[7thsea] Johann says, "A classic meeting full of misunderstandings? I'm up for it"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert exclaims, "They are taken the hobbits too, Eisen guard!"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "ha ha"
Driver trains his pistol on Talbert from behind his cloak. (Holding action, but still a bit suspicous; rolling to see how he pulls it off, TN 15)
[7thsea] Driver rolls 3k3: 3 1 9 | 13
GM sets Tranquility to 22.
OldMan wonders what exactly is going on in the front of that carriage.
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "Side question: suspicion and tranquility work how?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "and any other variables I may have missed"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "When we do things that make the innocent passersby more suspicious of us, their Tranquility goes down."
[7thsea] GM says, "They're the same thing but Tranquility is how normal the situation seems. The old man is rolling on 3, 6, and 9 to see if he suspects something going on, and the Tranquility is the TN for it."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "And each time they get a turn, they roll their Wits against their Tranquility to see if they catch on that something untoward is happening."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Ah!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks (of GM), "The cat doesn't get a roll?"
[7thsea] GM says, "You all can raise or lower the Tranquility by your actions."
[7thsea] GM says (to Don), "Oh, the cat knew what was up from the beginning."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Ah, of course."
[Crows-Nest] Johann asks, "Cat?"
[Crows-Nest] Alex says (to Johann), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that cat is my favorite unix program."
[Crows-Nest] GM exclaims, "The girl is carrying a cat!"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Phase 5! Talbert!"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "Oh yeah. I couldn't see it from inside the carriage"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "And the old man is carrying the girl, and the horse is carrying the old man, and..."
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "Morbleu!"
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "(for the record, the old man is leading the horse with the girl/cat on it.)"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Ooh, I finally have a thought. Maybe I can distract them from noticing what's going on? By being my charming self."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Ooh."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Absolutely!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(AFK a moment.)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I need to reassure the old man somehow. Perhaps by grappling the driver in a friendly backslap that'll nudge the pistol so it points away from me -- and yay Penelope's plan"
[7thsea] GM says, "Which is probably something/Panache."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Yeah"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "(waiting for an answer...)"
[7thsea] GM says, "Sorry; 'absolutely' was your answer."
[7thsea] GM says, "Wait, no, sigh."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I think absolutely was my answer."
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "I shall fall on my answ-ord then? :D"
[7thsea] GM says, "OK, a normal grapple to re-aim the pistol would be TN 15, and would decrease Tranquility. TN 20 would keep tranquility where it is, and 25 would increase it by 5."
[7thsea] GM says, "(You have to pick what TN you want before you roll.)"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert asks, "Hm. Before I decide: what's the relevant stats? Finesse/something?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "except here"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "Or is it Brawn?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Let's say that this time it's Panache because of the circumstances."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Nice"
[7thsea] GM says, "(A normal grapple is Finesse or Brawn I think.)"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "So 3k3? Plus any drama die?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Yup! And you can add drama dice after you see what you roll."
Talbert goes south.
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Alright, I'm going to try for 25"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "You left!"
Talbert arrives, looking for booty.
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Sounds good!"
[7thsea] Talbert says (to GM), "I accidentally used my numpad for numbers"
[7thsea] GM says, "Heh."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "which seems to be mapped to cardinal directions on the mid"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "*MUD"
[7thsea] Johann exclaims, "Use the NUMlock, Luke!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "hehe"
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 3k3: 6 3 1 | 10
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "Using drama die!"
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 1k1: 3 | 3
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "I still have a drama die left!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Can I use two at once? I know burning through them is unwise but YOLO"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "You can!"
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 1k1: 4 | 4
[7thsea] GM says, "(Don just did)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Well, that did not work haha"
[7thsea] GM says, "Hee. OK! RP your attempt; it didn't work, but Tranquility also remained the same, at least."
Talbert smiles awkwardly at the old man while patting the driver on the back and trying to nudge away the pistol in a discreet fashion. The driver resists, however, but at least the struggle is partially hidden from view by some of Talbert's cloak falling down like a curtain.
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "OK! The guard!"
Guard stretches, then cries out "Oh! A bug!" and stomps on Don's fingers.
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Is that an attack, or is he trying to make me fall?"
[7thsea] (from Talbert) Don makes bug noises to alleviate suspicions
[7thsea] GM asks (of Don), "I think your only defense here is that your fingers present a relatively small target, TN 10. Unless you have some other form of passive defense you think applies?"
[7thsea] GM says, "I think it's just an attack."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks (of GM), "Climbing?"
[7thsea] Talbert asks (of GM), "Don is a pianist, maybe?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Sure, I'm OK with climbing as defense."
[7thsea] GM asks, "What's that, then?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "OK! My Climbing is 2. So I guess the TN is 15?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Sounds correct."
[7thsea] Guard rolls 3k2: 5 10+2 9 | 21
[7thsea] Johann asks, "how did you arrive at that TN`?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "If I wanted to actively defend, would that be Wits + Climbing vs. his 21?"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Right!"
[7thsea] GM says (to Johann), "knackx5 + 5."
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Then I'm burning my 9 to defend!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 5k3: 6 8 6 10+9 10+6 | 43
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Woo! With a roll like that, can I now be fully inside the carriage?"
Guard stomps ineffectively, as Don expertly scoots his hand back and forth along the ridge!
[7thsea] GM asks, "Hmm, you usually have to call raises beforehand. But I was going to decrease Tranquility again, and let's say you were also able to act like a bug so it doesn't change?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "OK."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(I'm trying to figure out how to survive this round without having to make any more wound checks...)"
[7thsea] GM says, "And that brings us to 6, with Talbert, then Johann, then the Driver."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says (to Talbert), "If you wanted to mess with the reins to knock that guy off the roof, I wouldn't object."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Did Penelope ever get her chance to distract the Old Man?"
[7thsea] GM says, "She has not, but she can now! Or soon."
[7thsea] GM says, "(her choice)"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I can now if you want"
[7thsea] GM says, "We currently have Penelope, Driver, and Priest with held actions."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Sure, go for it!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "We need someone to restore Tranquility ;)"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "So, charm is a thing, I see."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "(and no, tranquilizer darts won't work in this setting)"
[7thsea] GM asks (of Penelope), "Maybe Acting?"
[7thsea] GM says, "And Panache seems apropos again."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Darn. Do we think seduction is only for like.. bedding someone? I thought it could be "charming" :P"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "He's a redblooded old man."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Charming with a side of flirting?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Yeah, like that."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "But I'm also fine with acting, I just don't get the advantage dice :P"
[7thsea] GM says, "A seduction attempt would certainly also be distracting ;-) Sure, sounds good."
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "Awesome. So (panache + seduction + dangerous beauty)k(panache)?"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Yup!"
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "What's the command to roll?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "roll (number)k(number)"
[7thsea] GM says, "'roll 6k3' or whatever."
[7thsea] GM says, "Wait, I should give you a TN."
[7thsea] GM says, "So, let's see. Let's say it's TN 15 to increase Tranquility by 5; you can self-impose a higher TN (by 5) to increase the change by 5. So, TN 20 for a change of 10, etc."
[7thsea] GM says, "Tranquility tops out at 50, let's say, and it's currently 27."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Not gonna raise, because first roll ever and I don't want to jinx it."
[7thsea] Penelope rolls 6k3: 9 6 9 9 1 8 | 27
[7thsea] GM says, "Ha."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "damn"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Success!"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Oh well :P Next time I'll take the chance, maybe."
[7thsea] GM says, "Whoops, tranquility was at 22."
[7thsea] GM says, "So that bumps it back up to 27! And I'll try to keep better notes."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "If you want to spend an interrupt action, you can try again before he rolls on 6. But in the meantime, rp your entry on the scene and your flirting!"
Penelope suddenly appears out of nowhere next to the old man and his horse and companions, on her immaculately groomed pony. She's dressed reasonably well, not her best finery of course, but she's looking pretty cute and busty. She smiles and seeks out eye contact, keeping total control of her horse, and just launches into conversation with "It's a lovely day, isn't it?" She runs her fingers through her long hair. "Would you care for some company?"
[Crows-Nest] Penelope says, "Imagine that's a bit less awkward than it sounds"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "It's endearingly awkward maybe"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I imagine she's been keeping pace on parallel-ish road all this time and suddenly cut over to join y'all."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "nice"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "So it's my turn now I guess?"
OldMan says, "Oh! Hello, miss... Penelope, right? Good to see you out here, did you see my daughter's cat? We found it again! Always slipping away; terrible creature." He grins at the cat and ruffles its back."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "It is!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "So it's either repeat previous action but maybe not raising it to the max, or try something new"
[7thsea] GM says (to Talbert), "If you wanted to *just* be charming, that'd be a lower TN, too."
[7thsea] GM says, "It was more difficult since you were also trying to negate the pistol."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I guess I can be charming: the driver isn't going to shoot me until the old man and etc are gone"
inky arrives, looking for booty.
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "So just straight panache?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Sure, or Acting if you have that or similar."
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "I do not!"
[7thsea] GM says, "TN 15 again to increase by 5; 20 by 10, etc."
[7thsea] Talbert says, ";Going for the lower TN 15"
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 3k3: 9 1 5 | 15
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "woo!"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "and wisely so!"
GM sets Tranquility to 32.
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "rp!"
[7thsea] GM says, "Then Johann is next."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Is Johann smart enough to realize that the person who just broke *into* the Inquisition prison transport is not on the side of the Inquisition?"
[7thsea] GM says, "(Oh, and the priest now has two held actions)"
[7thsea] Johann says, "Wits 1, baby"
[Crows-Nest] inky says, "I assumed that meant "he has wits 1, because he is a baby""
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "ha ha"
Talbert says, "I'm so pleased to hear this majestic feline of yours is safe and sound! And is it not a lovely road for lovely companions to travel along?' He winks at the driver, seemingly unfazed by the concealed pistol."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Johannext"
[7thsea] Johann says, "I'd like to pull the Inquisiton guard who just broke in into the carriage and close the door again"
OldMan says, "Right! Yeah, now we just have to worry about being out past curfew, but that's minor; we signed out and everything."
OldMan visibly relaxes.
[7thsea] Johann says, "(and maybe throw him at the guard while doing so?)"
[Crows-Nest] Penelope says, "Oh no :)"
[7thsea] Johann says, "*at the priest"
[7thsea] GM asks, "So: basically grapple Don and then throw him at priest?"
[7thsea] Johann exclaims, "Yeah!"
[7thsea] Johann says, "Closing the door so it looks less suspicious maybe"
[7thsea] Penelope says (to GM), "Oh, feel free to pull Ricco in if you want him to be here. I kind of originally assumed he was sharing the horse with me, but I felt I would be less charming if he was with me, so he's still kind of trailing along on another road. We don't seem to be moving very fast, if the man is on foot."
[7thsea] Johann asks (of gm), "Is that Brawn + Pugilist?"
[7thsea] GM says, "OK! Success or failure, that'll decrease Tranquility by 10 without a raise. Grapple is against Don's passive climbing TN of 15. Pulling him in to throw at the priest is a raise; I dunno; let's say 5. Also, you get a drama die."
[7thsea] Johann rolls 5k3: 8 4 3 8 7 | 23
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Woo."
[7thsea] Johann asks, "So.. I throw him, I guess? My TN was 20?"
[7thsea] GM says, "You do! And, let's see, I think the Priest is going to try an active defense to dodge out of the way vs. 23. Success means that Don is injured hitting the wall instead of him."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Uh oh."
[7thsea] Priest rolls 5k3: 4 10+7 7 9 3 | 33
[7thsea] Talbert says, "... let's hope that doesn't happen"
[7thsea] Johann says, "(And If I had rolled a 10, it would not have decreased TRanquility?)"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "Can you actively defend against an active defense?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "This sounds very Counterspelly"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Like adding drama dice to your original roll?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Hee."
[7thsea] GM says, "It'll be one die of falling damage which isn't much, but does mean that Don has to do a wound check which he was trying to avoid."
[Crows-Nest] Johann asks, "Tangentially, Jota used som mechanic to make die explode, e.g. get an automatic raise, I think?"
[7thsea] Johann says, "sorry Don"
[7thsea] GM says, "You could spend drama die to increase your 23 to try to hit 33."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "afk for a few minutes to intake the baby"
[7thsea] GM says, "Baby Intake; wits 1."
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "For normal rolls, and die that rolls a 10 should automatically explode. (The 'roll XkX' handles that automatically.)"
[7thsea] GM rolls 1k1: 2 | 2
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "s/and/any/"
[7thsea] GM exclaims (at Don), "You take 2 flesh wounds!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Oh no!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Straight Brawn k Brawn, right?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Yeah."
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 2k2: 10+10+3 5 | 28
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "That was against a total of 26 flesh wounds."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "w00t!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "I am somehow still not crippled!"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "double exploding die!"
[7thsea] Johann exclaims, "Nice!"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "In my IRL D&D group, we have a rule to reroll 1's when you level and get HP. I roll d8s and rolled 1,1,1,8."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "OK! Johann, rp everything!"
[7thsea] GM says, "Oh, and the Tranquility decreases to 22 again/"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "back."
Johann grabs Don by the neck and the belt. "You vill not save your priest, Inquisiton svine!" He hauls him at the priest, but the priest (who was already cowering), ducks at the last second and Don crashes into the carriage wall with a painful sounding '*crack.*
Johann pulls the door close.
OldMan hears the thumps and asks, "Is everyting OK in that carriage?"
[7thsea] GM says, "And he's about to roll vs. 22 unless anyone wants to interrupt."
DonMiguel exclaims, "*My* priest?!? I thought he was *your* priest!"
[7thsea] Penelope will!
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "OK!"
[7thsea] GM says, "Perfect; go for it."
Johann says, "My priest? He is a blabbering idiot! He is not from ze great nation of Eisen."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I guess I just want him to ignore the carriage, rather than trying to reassure him it's fine. So the same roll as before, I think, rather than acting or whatever."
[7thsea] GM asks, "Sounds good. What TN do you want?"
[7thsea] GM says, "15 = 5, 20 = 10, etc."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Let's try the 20"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "one second"
[7thsea] GM says, "(you also have drama dice you can add to the roll if you don't make it.)"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Sorry, had to peel an orange for the little one."
[7thsea] Penelope rolls 6k3: 5 10+10+7 1 3 10+7 4 | 49
[7thsea] Penelope D
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Pretend that had eyes."
[7thsea] Johann says, "wowsers"
[7thsea] GM says, "That... is a success ;-)"
[7thsea] Johann says, "And you said you wouldn't roll 10s when it counts"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Is this the point where someone should be blindfolding the little girl?"
Penelope smiles broadly and says something like, "Oh, I'm sure they're just fine. And how are *you* doin'?"
[7thsea] GM says, "OK, you know what? I'm going to go ahead and say that beating a roll by 15 counts as a post-hoc raise (and 30 by two raises, etc.)"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Haha, yay"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Neat."
[7thsea] Johann says, "Penelope saving the day"
[7thsea] GM says, "So you still are better off calling them beforehand, but unpredictable huge rolls still do something."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Which means you increase tranquility by 15 instead of 10!"
[Crows-Nest] Johann asks, "How do you call a raise?"
[7thsea] GM says, "(and I guess by another 5 if you spend a drama die)"
Penelope probably dabs at her cleavage with a handkerchief in the process of saying that, drawing his eyes to her.
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "You say beforehand that you're aiming for a harder TN."
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "(All these questions are for Don so the GM can keep going :D"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "Before you roll, you can say something extra you want to do in addition to your regular thing, and the GM will increase the TN."
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "I just have the one drama die, right? How do I gain more?"
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "And how high are we trying to get tranquility?"
OldMan is drawn to Penelope's fine words and dangerous beauty, and dismisses the commotion in the carriage as utterly irrelevant.
[7thsea] OldMan rolls 3k2: 3 5 2 | 8
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "E.g., when I stuck my sword into the crack of the door, that was one TN. But then I asked, if I wanted to also cut the rosary at the same time, could I do that in the same action? And the GM gave me a higher TN for that."
[7thsea] OldMan says, "*Utterly* irrelevant."
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "aha"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "The 8 represents the old man's eyes right now"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "Or, e.g., when you attack someone, you can take a raise to do more damage if you hit. (But the higher TN also increases the chances of you missing.)"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "more aha"
[7thsea] Johann says, "ha ha"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel exclaims (at Penelope), "And you gain more drama dice by doing cool and dramatic things!"
[Crows-Nest] Penelope ahas, as well.
Driver takes advantage of the lull to scootch over, leaving room for the guard to come sit down between he and Talbert.
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "Which spends one of the driver's held actions and the guard's 7."
[7thsea] GM says (to Don), "Tell me how you were disguised--the Priest is going to try to recognize you."
[7thsea] GM says, "(or take mental notes about your body size, build, features, etc.)"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "Mental note: omg sick bod"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "I'm dressed in black, and I'm wearing a mask -- if one of us is expected to be wearing *the* mask, then that's probably me."
[Crows-Nest] GM says, "(Also, you can gain drama die by putting yourself at a disadvantage for dramatic effects or because of your Hubris)"
[7thsea] GM asks, "You don't have to, but you can! Do you want to?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Sure!"
Priest gasps "Los Vagos!"
Johann exclaims, "Oho!"
[7thsea] GM asks, "Did your servant disguise you?"
DonMiguel nods his head in a gentlemanly fashion.
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "If he has a good Trait+Skill for it, yes!"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "He/she does indeed have Disguise! And Wits 4!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Excellent!"
[7thsea] GM says, "So, rolling for their disguising ability, with a free raise for The Mask, vs. the priest's wits+something."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(What do you mean 'she'? Are you impugning Felipe's virility?!?)"
[7thsea] GM rolls 5k4: 10+9 2 7 4 4 | 34
[7thsea] Priest rolls 4k3: 2 5 8 5 | 18
Priest tries to see through the disguise, but can't distinguish any particular features!
[7thsea] Johann says, "That's one hell of a mask"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Which brings us to Johann!"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says (to Johann), "it's actually just a brown paper bag with holes for the eyes"
[7thsea] GM says, "Then Talbert, then one last Old Man roll, and then the guard on 10 and a driver held action."
[7thsea] Johann says, "I'll try to choke out the priest, in case he tries to alert anyone."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Panzerhand?"
[7thsea] Johann asks, "Maybe that's possible using my Eisenhand?"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "Eisen-Man!"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "Eisen-Man!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Does whatever an Eisen can"
[7thsea] GM says, "That's suspicious! TN 15 for a normal attack, with -10 Tranquility, success or failure. Negate by 5 with an increased TN, or by 10 for another 5 to do it completely out of view of the man/girl/horse."
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel exclaims, "Fights a war! On both sides! Takes a hit, but never cries! Look out, here comes the Eisen-Man!"
[7thsea] Johann says, "I'll go for the +10"
[7thsea] Johann asks, "So I need to hit a 25, right?"
[7thsea] GM says, "And yes, it seems like Panzerhand should apply."
[7thsea] GM says, "Right1"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Right!"
[7thsea] Johann says, "Panzerhand, the assassins weapon"
[7thsea] Johann rolls 6k3: 8 3 3 4 4 6 | 18
[7thsea] Johann exclaims, "Drama die!"
[7thsea] Johann rolls 1k1: 4 | 4
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Was there a house rule about us being able to give each other drama dice?"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "There was!"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Yup!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Then I want to give Johann one for this!"
[7thsea] Johann asks, "So I can at least only turn that into -5 tranquility?"
[7thsea] Johann exclaims, "or that!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Because picking up the priest by the throat with his panzerhand seems pretty awesome."
[7thsea] Johann exclaims (at don), "Thanks!"
[7thsea] Johann rolls 1d10 dice: 1
[7thsea] GM says, "So! By increasing the TN, the tranquility won't change whether or not you succeed."
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims (at Johann), "You have squandered my gift!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "alas"
[7thsea] GM says, "Since you tried to be quiet about it; that's why it was harder."
[7thsea] Johann says, "The gods of fate are cruel masters"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(Does that come out of my normal pool of DD?)"
[7thsea] GM says, "Uh, I need the transcript to remember what I said ;-)"
[7thsea] Johann asks (of gm), "So if I had succeeded, Tranquility would've actually increased?"
[7thsea] GM says, "But I think I said everyone gets one more that expressly for use to give someone else."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Nice."
[7thsea] GM says (to Johann), "No, either way it would have stayed where it was."
[7thsea] Johann asks, "So what would I have gained from a success, different thatn what I have now?"
[7thsea] GM says, "You would have gained a successful attack."
[7thsea] Johann exclaims, "aha!"
[7thsea] GM says, "And maybe knocked him out, etc."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Is that tne end? No more drama dice? If so, rp a quiet ineffective attack!"
Johann garbs the priest by the throat with his Panzerhand and keeps him from shouting, but he is a wily one and struggles mightily to escape the steely grip!
[Crows-Nest] Penelope says, "I believe the priest was already garbed."
[7thsea] GM says, "Talbert! You're up, the driver has a held action and a gun trained on you; the guard is sitting between you grinning with his sword out."
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "tee hee"
[7thsea] GM says, "(and an action on 10)"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "And suspicion is still a concern, right?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I mean Tranquility"
[7thsea] GM says, "It is! But you can hold your action until after 9 if you want; Tranquility is currently at 37."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I'll hold my action for now with an awkward smile"
GM says, "With that, the carriage passes the man/horse/cat/courtesan/pony combo. The man might be distracted by the odd goings on..."
[7thsea] OldMan rolls 3k2: 7 6 10+7 | 24
GM says, "But is not! He happily chats with Penelope as they pass by."
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel exclaims, "Oh no, the little girl is missing!"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert asks, "The cat is floating on a little-girl-shaped void?"
[Crows-Nest] Penelope says, "She had to go be sick from the flirting"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "haha"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "She hasn't loaded it in properly"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says (to Johann), "Yay."
[7thsea] GM says, "And let's have Tranquility increase by 10 as he passes by, taking it to 47."
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "The man horse, the cat courtesan and the girl pony"
[7thsea] GM says, "Some things might make him turn around at this point, but not much."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Held actions! Talbert!"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel asks, "And Penelope?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Penelope also has a 10 left, yes."
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "I guess the Penny didn't drop"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Right! Well, 1vs2 is a tough one. I'll let Penelope go first while I think"
[7thsea] GM says, "You can also have your servants show up at any time if you want."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "So the old man is pretty well enraptured, but are we at danger of the girl noticing something amiss? I could tell a story or something."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Which could keep both their attention."
[7thsea] GM says, "Sure, that'd be great. Acting this time? And that sounds easier, so TN 10."
[7thsea] GM says, "Or Oratory."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I prefer oratory :)"
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "What trait is that? Wits?"
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "Or?"
[7thsea] Alex says (to Penelope), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that or is it is yes."
[7thsea] Penelope says (to Alex), "hush."
[7thsea] GM says, "I think Panache."
[7thsea] Alex exclaims (at Penelope), "Awwwk! Just trying to help!"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Ok. THey're both 3 anyway :)"
[7thsea] GM says, "Heh."
[7thsea] Penelope rolls 5k3: 4 7 5 2 1 | 16
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Yay"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "That works! RP!"
GM sets Tranquility to 52, deciding on the fly that as long as it's above 40, no rolls will be made at all for Suspicion.
Penelope weaves a tale, based in part on Voddacean folklore and partly from her imagination, about a (beautiful) fate witch and her own cat.
[Crows-Nest] (from Penelope) Johann says, "Hey, that tickles"
GM tosses a drama die to Penelope, just because I'm greatly enjoying imagining this scene.
Penelope aw yiss.
[7thsea] GM says, "Talbert? It looks like the guard is about to stab you."
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "Right!"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "he he"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "If I leapt onto the back of one of the horses pulling the carriage would it 1) help with dodging that stab and 2) make the driver think twice about shooting in case he hits the horse?"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "It would!"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "Then I shall!"
[7thsea] GM says, "Let's see. Ride/Finesse, TN 15, Tranquility -5."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Nice"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "So I'll be rolling 5k4 for this"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "Should I do some sort of raise?"
[7thsea] GM says, "If you want to accomplish an extra thing.. right, exactly."
[7thsea] GM asks, "What else would you like to do?"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "I could maybe pull the reins away from the driver so that I'm now the only one in control of the horse(s)? I'm not sure. OR maybe make the horses quicken their pace and destablize the villains?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Maybe that might even make the driver drop the gun?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I like that idea"
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "I'm impressed by the economy of location on display here"
[7thsea] GM says, "Sure, let's say you both have ahold of the reigns on a +5; just you on a +10. Quicken pace won't destabilize the driver/guard where they are, but would make it difficult for them to follow you, and would be harder on the people in the back."
[7thsea] GM says, "Oh, hmm, drop the gun seems like a +10, with a required +5 to both have the reigns. So, TN 30 total."
[7thsea] GM says, "(or 35 to only you have the reigns *and* the driver drop the gun)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I think I'll go for TN 30 because the tug of war seems funnier to me"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Roll it!"
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 5k4: 8 8 2 7 6 | 29
[7thsea] Talbert says, "dammit"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Ooh. Do you have any drama dice left?"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "does anyone have a die they can give me?"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Everyone but Don should have one expressly for the purpose of giving it away!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "pretty please? :D"
[7thsea] GM says, "(since Don already gave his away)"
[7thsea] GM says, "(also this'd be a guaranteed success, since you only need one more.)"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "Here, have mine"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "indeed!"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "yay"
[7thsea] GM says, "Go ahead and roll, in case you get a 16+ ;-)"
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 1k1: 9 | 9
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Success! Rp!"
[Crows-Nest] Johann exclaims, "You did not squander my gift!"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "hehe"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "to be fair, the other die would have been equally good for me since I only needed a 1"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "(Don M's)"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "anyway RPing"
Talbert's resolve is indomitable even in the face of overwhelming odds. 'You have the advantage of numbers. Nay, even the advantage of weapons. But there is one thing you do not possess. Namely, a complete lack of self-preservation!' And upon that note, he leaps daringly onto the back of one of the horses, in a fluid motion grabbing at one end of the reins and with a shake snapping it against the driver's meaty arms, causing the fellow to drop his pistol lest he lose the reins. The horse is startled but immediately knows that its new rider is a capable one. 'Voila!'
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "And that ends my turn"
Driver swears as his gun falls from his grip and drops to the road! He instead attampts to lash you with the reins! (TN is 5+your Ridex5, so 10. He takes two raises to increase damage by 2k0, so TN 20.
[7thsea] Driver rolls 4k4: 8 8 5 6 | 27
[Numenera] Driver exclaims, "A hit!"
[Numenera] Driver says, "whoops ;-)"
[7thsea] Driver exclaims, "A hit!"
[7thsea] Driver rolls 2k1: 10+2 9 | 12
[7thsea] GM says, "He does 12 flesh wounds! Roll brawn to resist."
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 1k1: 7 | 7
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "So, that's one dramatic wound!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "What's Talbert's Resolve?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "3"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Ooh, nice."
Driver lashes the reins against Talbert's face, temporarily blinding him before he shakes it off again.
Talbert exclaims, "I stand by my words!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "That means that if you take three dramatic wounds, you'll be Crippled (and will take some penalties). But for now, your flesh wounds are wiped away in exchange for your dramatic wound."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Aha"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "So far so good. Who's next?"
Guard leaps down to the tressle between the horses, and lashes out at Talbert with his sword!
[7thsea] Guard says, "This would normally be vs. your Ride (TN 10) but it's super awkward here, so that bumps it to a TN 20."
[7thsea] Guard rolls 4k2: 8 4 7 4 | 15
Guard misses, and curses your ancestry.
[Crows-Nest] (from Talbert) Guard says 'more like incest-try amirite'
[7thsea] GM says, "With that, we come to Penelope! At this point, the girl is curled up almost asleep on the back of the horse, and the man is smiling at your story. They'll be out of range in a bit, and if you want, you can go back and help, or you can have Ricco show up and do something."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Sorry, one sec. baby."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "no problem!"
[7thsea] Johann says, "Just don't call him baby."
[7thsea] GM says, "Actually, I need a quick break myself; back in a couple."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Wasn't Penelope's action to tell the story? Or am I mixed up?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I thought so, too."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I wasn't expecting to go for a bit, so I had a baby on my lap."
[7thsea] Johann says, "Rookie mistake"
[7thsea] GM says, "Oh! Right; sorry."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "So, next round!"
[7thsea] GM says, "Wow, a round takes up a whole session."
[7thsea] Johann asks, "What is this, D&D?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 3 dice: 9 1 5
[7thsea] Johann rolls 2d10 dice: 7 6
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks (of GM), "The danger of everyone knowing not to take Panache 1?"
[7thsea] Penelope rolls 3d10 dice: 3 6 10
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 3k3: 2 6 6 | 14
[7thsea] Guard rolls 3d10 dice: 8 8 2
[7thsea] Driver rolls 3d10 dice: 2 4 4
[7thsea] Priest rolls 3d10 dice: 5 2 4
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Don goes first on 1!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "This priest needs stabbing!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "His basic TN was 15, right?"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Right!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "'Rid me of this turbulent priest'"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Then I'm taking two raises for extra damage!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 7k4: 7 7 8 10+3 7 5 3 | 35
[7thsea] GM says, "Success! No active defense."
[7thsea] Johann says, "Wow, nice"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "And damage is normally 4k2 IIRC, so the raises should make it 6k2."
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 6k2: 7 7 1 7 3 8 | 15
[7thsea] Priest rolls 1k1: 2 | 2
Priest exclaims, "Urk!"
[7thsea] Priest takes a dramatic wound and staggers against the wall, still conscious.
DonMiguel pulls out his sword, then says to Johann, "See, I *told* you he wasn't mine."
Priest takes a dramatic wound and staggers against the wall, still conscious.
Johann exclaims, "This makes is very glaubwürdig!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Is there also time to make a bird call during my action?"
[7thsea] GM says, "On 2, we have: Guard, Talbert, Priest, Driver."
[7thsea] GM asks, "Sure?"
DonMiguel makes the call of the purple-crested berry-sucker -- the signal for Felipe to approach with the extra horses!
[7thsea] inky says, "the yellow breasted sap sucker-puncher"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Mmmm, these horses are extra"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(I imagine he'll probably arrive during some later phase.)"
[7thsea] Johann says, "Purple-crested berry-sucker is also what that guard called Talbert's mum last round"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "hehe"
Guard is somewhat surprised, as he thought only the red-crested berry sucker was native to this area, but decides to stab Talbert anyway (same TN)
[7thsea] Guard rolls 4k2: 5 7 7 2 | 14
Guard still can't manage to connect.
[Crows-Nest] Johann says (to gm), "ha ha ha"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Talbert!"
Talbert exclaims, "Oh? You're approaching me? Let me show you how it's done!"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "I'll stab him!"
[7thsea] GM says, "I think the base TN is 20 for you as well."
[7thsea] GM says, "(though in reverse)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Noted"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "So you have to roll at least a 02."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "What was the knack, already"
[7thsea] GM says, "Attack(fencing)"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "OK!"
[7thsea] GM says, "(or some other Attack)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Fencing it is"
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 5k4: 3 7 9 7 7 | 30
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "I succeed!"
[7thsea] GM says, "A hit! Normal fencing sword is 2k2 damage."
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 2k2: 6 1 | 7
[7thsea] Guard rolls 3k3: 9 3 2 | 14
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Don't forget to add... Brawn, I think it is?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "As unkept dice."
[7thsea] Guard says, "Oh, right, forgot about that."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Oh oops"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "Do I roll an extra die?"
[7thsea] Guard says, "Well, the guard forgot to roll his brawn last hit, so we'll call it a draw ;-)"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "hehe"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Ha."
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "So it connects but doesn't deal damage?"
[7thsea] GM says, "The terrain makes it hard to really hit like you normally would."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "It deals damage, but it's only a flesh wound."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "aha"
[7thsea] GM says, "It dealt 7 flesh wounds, which didn't turn into a dramatic wound yet."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "got it"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "shall I RP?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "But the flesh wounds add up, so if he takes more damage before the end of the scene, he'll be rolling against his total flesh wounds."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Yes!"
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "It occurs to me that another reason combat is taking some time is that I think we're up against all henchmen and no brutes."
Talbert, still holding on to his part of the reins with one hand, draws his sword with the other and his blade connects with the guard! Being on a horse, however, he cannot put all his force into the strike, so only deals a flesh wound, but first blood has been drawn nonetheless.
Talbert exclaims, "Voila!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "And that is my turn."
[Crows-Nest] DonMiguel says, "(Brutes are unnamed mooks designed to be mown down quickly.)"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "In videogames they're usually the extra tough ones"
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "you can tell by the cologne they wear"
[Crows-Nest] Johann says (to roger), "That's brutés"
Priest exclaims, "By Theus! Los Vagos, you may have beaten us this time, but Legion cannot save you forever! If you must strike me down, I will be delivered to Theus; but you and your kind will be consigned to flame!"
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "oh right"
DonMiguel says, "I'll let Theus himself be the judge of that."
GM exclaims, "At this point, you hear horses outside the door!"
[7thsea] GM says, "(and he is conceding)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Yay."
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "Victoire!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "(Are the driver and the guard still fighting?"
Driver startles to see the extra horses come up beside the carriage. He wrestles with Talbert for control of the reins!
[7thsea] Driver exclaims, "Straight brawn vs. brawn!"
[7thsea] Driver rolls 2k2: 1 9 | 10
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 1k1: 8 | 8
[7thsea] Talbert says, "eep"
Driver manages to pull the reins from Talbert's hands!
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "And now we're at phase 3, with Penelope!"
[7thsea] GM says, "And Ricco can be on one of the newly-arrived horses if you like."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I anticipate doing a cool horse-to-horse jump"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Can I, uh, flash the driver while not falling off my horse? And also I suppose call Ricco to come out from where he's trailing us. I am partially kidding about the first part."
[Crows-Nest] Johann says, "I'll have to call it a day in 20 minutes or so"
[Crows-Nest] Penelope says, "Same"
[7thsea] GM says, "Ha"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert exclaims, "Then let's waste no time!"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I don't want to get involved, as I am not much for fighting."
[7thsea] GM says, "Yup, we'll be done."
[7thsea] Johann asks, "tghere are cameras in this setting?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Something something glow spiders, flash of light. I've been teaching them a new trick ;)"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "That's glow, even for you :D"
[7thsea] GM says, "If you want to hang out with the family on their way back, that's perfectly fine; you can be the scout."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Cut the carriage horses free of the carriage?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Oh, hey. I can do that."
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "Is that an attack?"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I have a knife."
[7thsea] GM asks, "So you're saying farewell to the family and riding back?"
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "How safe are these roads for people who aren't us?"
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "There was mention of a curfew?"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Not very!"
[Crows-Nest] Talbert says, "Stabby approves of Penelope's knife-owning propensity"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Damnit. Ok. I'll stay with them and gesture for Ricco to get involved with y'all."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "I can't in good conscience let them go alone"
GM tosses Penelope another drama die for her sacrifice.
[7thsea] Talbert says, "yay"
[7thsea] Ricco rolls 3k3: 6 5 5 | 16
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "The carriage door flies open revealing Ricco and 'Felipe' on horses, riding next to the carriage!"
GM exclaims, "The carriage door flies open revealing Ricco and 'Felipe' on horses, riding next to the carriage!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "The cavalry has arrived!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Is it now Phase 4?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Meanwhile, the Driver takes a few parting shots with the reins, slapping Talbert with them. (yes, phase 4)"
[7thsea] GM says, "(Talbert can do an interrupt action to leap away before this happens, or take the hits)"
[7thsea] GM says, "(if they connect)"
[7thsea] GM says, "(and yes, phase 4)"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "I'd like to leap away onto another horse?"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "That sacrifices two of my actions, right?"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Ride/Finesse, TN 20!"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "It does!"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "alright!"
[7thsea] Talbert rolls 5k4: 9 5 7 6 8 | 30
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "such elegance!"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Success! Rp!"
Talbert spies Felipe (known by a sweeter name to him, but that is a secret between them both) and waves goodbye to the driver and guard. 'Such fun we had! Alas, I am expected elsewhere.' And thereupon the dashing man from Montaigne is up and and away, leaping through the air and landing onto one of the horses Felipe had brought along, landing in the saddles while simultaneously sheathing his sword in one smooth motion. He waves goodbye again with his hat, smiling mischievously.
[7thsea] Talbert says, "\fin"
Driver growls and holds action instead.
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Don! And then Johann!"
DonMiguel turns to Mari. "Come, Sen~ora, take my hand..."
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "I want to help her onto the back of Felipe's horse!"
[7thsea] GM says, "Sounds good! Ride/Finesse, TN 20."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "And if I don't have Ride, it's straight Finesse?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Right."
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 4k4: 10+7 7 2 5 | 31
[7thsea] GM says, "success! rp1"
DonMiguel, with Felipe's help, gently lifts la abuela onto horseback. She holds on tight as Felipe moves his horse away, leaving room for the unmanned horses to approach the door.
DonMiguel asks (of Johann), "Are you coming with us?"
Johann exclaims, "Jawoll! I was looking fore Los Vagos, in fact!"
[7thsea] Johann says, "So I wanna jump on a horse"
Priest mutters "Of course you were..."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Same roll/TN!"
[7thsea] GM says, "(ride/finesse, TN 20)"
[7thsea] Johann rolls 3k3: 1 7 6 | 14
[7thsea] Johann says, "oops"
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "Want a DD?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "On the bright side, you're the only one tough enough to survive being trampled :D"
[7thsea] Johann exclaims, "Sure!"
[7thsea] Johann rolls 1k1: 2 | 2
[7thsea] Johann says, "grr"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "... I was about to type don't squander it."
[7thsea] Johann says, "ha ha aw"
[7thsea] Johann says, "Johann's my name, and squandering drama die is my game"
[7thsea] GM says, "Hee"
[7thsea] GM asks, "So, you fall out of the carriage?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Is he dramatically hanging upside down now, with the stirrup twisted around one ankle?"
[7thsea] Johann says, "I guess so, but I'll also take Don's suggestion"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "I think straight falling is probably simpler here. You take some falling damage!"
[7thsea] GM rolls 2k2: 10+6 7 | 23
[7thsea] GM says, "uh, 23 flesh wounds, I see."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Roll Brawn!"
[7thsea] Johann rolls 3k3: 6 9 10+3 | 28
[7thsea] Johann exclaims, "suck on that, uh, ground!"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "You shake them off and decline to take a dramatic wound! rp!"
Johann makes a dramatic jump for a horse ... and misses it by a body length. He uses his Panzerhand to easy his fall and does a judo roll, suffering only a few minor cuts and bruises.
GM says, "In the meantime, the driver has noticed everyone leaving the carriage, and is making it more difficult for Don to leave, increasing the TN to 30! The carriage is carreening wildly left and right, and would scare lesser horses away entirely, but these are only the finest from the Aldana estates."
[7thsea] GM says, "(and, skipping forward to Don's escape)"
DonMiguel leaps for his horse!
[7thsea] Talbert says, "dun dun DON"
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 4k4: 8 4 1 9 | 22
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "--Miguel!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "And I'll use a drama die!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 1k1: 1 | 1
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 1k1: 6 | 6
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I haven't given anyone a drama die yet"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "I don't suppose anyone might...?"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I will give you one"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Thank you!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel rolls 1k1: 2 | 2
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "31!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "yes"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Success!"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "rp, and we can be done!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "We can even be dun dun DONE"
DonMiguel leaps dramatically into the air! The camera watches him from below in slow motion, panning over to show that there's no horse where he's about to land. But Talbert sees this, and slaps the rump of Don Miguel's favorite steed. It jerks to the side, ending up right underneath Don Miguel at just the last second!
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Yay"
[7thsea] Johann says, "woo"
Johann yells (from a distance), "Don't vorry, I'll catch up on foot!"
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "Johann invents rollerderby"
GM says, "And with that, the rescue has been effected! A horse returns for Johann, and the carriage continues at breakneck speed down the road."
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Woo!"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Wooohoo"
GM says, "And we'll show how everyone figures out how to get back in the city after curfew next time."
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Does that end this scene?"
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "And yes, the scene is done, so everyone's flesh wounds disappear!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Yay!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(And we can worry about dramatic wounds next time...)"
[7thsea] Johann says, "woo, just like real life"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "This was fun!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Indeed!"
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "Next game is January, I think?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "And now we have a new nemesis whose name we don't know yet."
[7thsea] Johann says, "Yay, what a fun romp"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "Is January 18 good for everyone?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Er, wait. Sorry, I got confused."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "IT's my fault sorry"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "I was asking about December 18?"
[7thsea] GM says, "Heh."
[7thsea] Talbert asks, "I'm good, but Tale said he was iffy about December in general?"
[7thsea] Johann says, "Yep"
npc1 goes home.
npc1 has disconnected.
[7thsea] Johann says, "January is the earliest for me"
npc2 goes home.
npc2 has disconnected.
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "Then have a good holiday, everyone!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "I have a thing in early or mid January, but I'm not sure which weekend it's going to be."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Happy holiday to all, delightful friends :)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "So I guess we'll figure it out as we get closer."
[7thsea] Johann says, "So ends another year of fun RPGs"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Happy New Year!"
[7thsea] GM says, "Unless people know if they're free the 8th and/or the 15th of January? I know I'm out the 1st."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "(of fun RPG's)"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "I'm pretty sure I'm free at least one of those two, but I don't know which one."
[7thsea] Johann says, "Those should work"
[7thsea] Talbert says, "I should be free too"
[7thsea] DonMiguel asks, "ggg?"
[7thsea] Alex says (to DonMiguel), "Awwwk! Word on the street is that GGG is genericgeekgirl."
[7thsea] GM says, "Thanks, everyone! A little less happened than I had hoped, but overall things kept happening, so that seemed good, at least. Hopefully people didn't have too much downtime."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Sorry, had to go fight with a toddler over teeth brushing."
[7thsea] GM says, "Heh."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Aww"
Roger disappears through an invisible gap in the MUD. You think you may have heard the sounds of chatting before the gap closed again.
[7thsea] Penelope says, "8th and/or 15th should be fine"
[7thsea] Johann says, "You know, people NEVER listen to Cassandra at their own peril :-)"
[7thsea] Penelope asks, "DD turn into XP?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Excellent. As soon as I figure out which one I'm free, I'll put it on the calendar and mention it on Discord."
[7thsea] GM says, "No, drama dice are divorced entirely from XP; that never really worked. Any drama die you earned and didn't spend you keep."
[7thsea] Penelope says, "Oh, ok. Awesome."
[7thsea] GM exclaims, "But I should give people XP. Let's say 4XP to everyone and we'll see how that works out!"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "Yay!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Yay."
[7thsea] Johann exclaims, "hooray!"
[7thsea] Johann asks, "lvl 2 is at 300 xp?"
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Hee."
[7thsea] GM says, "Ha."
[7thsea] DonMiguel says, "Skills and stuff are purchased individually with XP. (I don't remember at all how the costs are figured.)"
[7thsea] GM says, "You can spend XP on stuff right away! I recommend advanced knacks to start with; perhaps upping your lowest stat as a close second."
[7thsea] Talbert says, "Noted. Anyhow, goofnight, friendly figures"
[7thsea] Talbert exclaims, "and take care!"
[7thsea] DonMiguel exclaims, "Goodnight!"
[Crows-Nest] Roger says, "although I should advance my stats, I shall blow it all on increased Seduction"
[7thsea] Penelope says, "G'night! Thank you :)"
