Quarion says, "Well, guys, the temple's on this map. But I'm not sure where we are on this thing."

DM says, "In the distant, you see a storm of elementals rise up from the Magic School and rush down into the city at different locations"

Vraklul looks for a manhole, sewer grating, or other passage to the city below...

Quarion says, "That can't be a coincidence! There must be an entrance under the Magic School."

Vraklul exclaims, "Alright!"

Quarion asks, "Who's with me?"

DM says, "There are also 4 sewer gratings right here, where the ghouls came through yesterday"

DM says, ""The streets are in utter chaos. There are people running out of houses, or people running into houses, small militia groups trying to go to their posts or help people, and basically folks running to and fro, and you even run past a few buildings that have already caught fire"

Vraklul lets this sewer grating drop shut again and follows Quarion.

Shaborys follows behind, resisting the urge to rob people while militia are around.

Then a gnome in Academy colors comes running from anotzher streets and yells "Ogg! No!""

Quarion asks, "What is that thing?"

Quarion asks, "Some sort of animal?"

Quarion says, "Stay safe, we'll be saving the city as soon as possible. We've got a hunch as to where these things are coming from."

DM says, "You run a few more streets, and it's utter chaos. You see ill-equipped militia groups trying their best to hold of the monstrosities, but some of them seem to have appeared inside houses, or on top of them, or in backyards, and it's just utter confusion and chaos."

DM says, "You finally reach a grate that you're like 20% sure leads to the right place"

DM says, "Er, 80%"

Quarion says, "Okay, guys, this is it."

DM says, "Man, brain, get a grip"

[Crows-Nest] Quarion says, "It's the Pareto principle."

Vraklul pries open *this* grate, too!

Quarion says, "I'll go first. I've got the map."

DM exclaims, "The grate is open. Darkness yawns beneath!"

Vraklul asks, "Are you sure that's a good idea?"

Quarion hesitates. Then sighs. 'Okay.'

Vraklul climbs down, barely affected by the darkness.

Quarion comes down after him.

Shaborys follows.

Quarion asks, "Horst? Are you up there?"

DM says, "You are in a part of the Undercity that's actually sewer. A small sewer, so you hunker down a bit and follow Quarion's instructions."

Horst follows along, of course.

Quarion says, "Okay, Vraklul, we'll go this way."

DM says, "Down here, there is no sound from the fight above. There is just the dripping and rushing of water in the distance"

Vraklul says, "...this place smells even worse than the *rest* of the city."

Vraklul goes this way!

Quarion says, "Everybody should use fake names, just in case."

DM exclaims, "You leave the sewer through a hole in its wall that's clearly been made by force, and find yourself in some, older, unused and wider sewer tunnels. And you hear fighting in the distance!"

Quarion asks (of DM), "are we heading towards the fighting?"

DM says, "Not according to the map."

Vraklul asks (of Quarion), "Should we be heading toward the fighting?"

Quarion says (to Vraklul), "No, we should be going away from it if we want to reach the Temple."

Vraklul says, "OK."

Vraklul follows Quarion's instructions.

Quarion says, "Also, please refer to me as Fireball, just in case It's around."

Quarion says, "Lily, keep going."

Quarion says, "Daggers, watch my back."

DM says, "So you move away, and the sound of fighting subsides int the distance. You move through these old, musty sewers for a few minutes, and then you come upon one of the hooked horrors! Only, it's dead."

Shaborys gives it a kick as she passes it.

DM says, "As you kick it, its head rolls off."

[slingergame] Vraklul asks, "I forget, do we even know what 'It' is, yet?"

DM says, "And you all think, just for a second, you hear a faint crawling sound in a nearby tunnel."

Vraklul says, "Hmm, I wonder who killed that."

[slingergame] Quarion says, "It is a mystery."

[slingergame] Quarion says, "Let's keep it that way."

Quarion says, "I take a look at the monster's injuries, just out of curiosity."

[slingergame] Quarion says, "It's definitely dead, guys. Let's move on."

[slingergame] Vraklul says, "I didn't think we had stopped."

DM says, "There seems to be two kinds of wounds - some have been clearly made by a weapon, like a longsword, and the other seems to be some sort of bite."

Quarion says, "Okay, this is weird. Either this thing was attacked by a creature and by a sword-wielding maniac, or we have some sort of werewolfy vigilante down here."

Quarion says, "Best not to waste time wondering. Let's move, Lily."

DM says, "You keep running, and realize you are very close to the temple - there is a huge, square room between you and it, and after that one long hallway that leads up to the temple."

Shaborys whispers, "WAIT!"

Vraklul stops!

Shaborys wants to check the room for traps

Quarion stays very still.

[slingergame] Shaborys asks, "investigation?"

DM says, "You're not in the room. The entrance to the room is a bulkhead, and it says RESERVOIR FIVE."

[slingergame] Shaborys says, "ok"

DM says, "Beside's it is a lever, that's set to FULL. (And be set to EMPTY)"

Vraklul asks, "Is this a water tank?"

DM says, "There is also a gauge that says FULL."

Quarion whispers, 'I think so.'

Quarion whispers, 'We need to be sure this is empty before we go in and drown.'

Quarion says, "Or... wait, I have a Water-breathing potion, I think."

Shaborys says, "Yeah, *you* do. The rest of us do not."

Quarion says, "Point taken, Daggers."

Vraklul asks, "I... have a climbing potion?"

Quarion says, "If we see any mountains in here, Lily, you'll be the first to climb it."

[Crows-Nest] DM says, "If you have a climbing potion, every problem looks like a mountain"

Quarion is feeling a little on edge for an elf.

[Crows-Nest] Vraklul exclaims, "Fortunately for me, nothing I've seen yet looked like a problem!"

Vraklul asks, "So do we empty this thing before opening it?"

Vraklul asks, "And if we do, where does it empty to? Here?"

Quarion says, "That's a risk."

Shaborys hm.

Vraklul shrugs. "Or we could just swim. I'm good at swimming."

Quarion says, "But I guess we can half-empty the other room, so that we can wade through."

Quarion asks, "How high's the ceiling?"

DM says, "Where you are now? Around 3m. Though you have no idea how high the reservoir is"

DM says, "And you have lost track of how deep underground you are"

[Crows-Nest] Vraklul says, "(That's ten feet, in proper units.)"

[Crows-Nest] Quarion says, "thanks"

[Crows-Nest] DM flips Vraklul an Euro.

[Crows-Nest] Horst says, "Should have packed a dwarf"

Vraklul asks, "Let's just open it. Worst case, we all have to swim, right?"

[Crows-Nest] DM exclaims (at Quarion), "You are in France!"

Horst says, "Surely."

[Crows-Nest] Quarion says (to DM), "yeah, but all the D&D stuff I've memorized is in feet"

[Crows-Nest] DM says, "hehe"

[slingergame] Shaborys asks, "Can the lever be pulled partway, or is it empty/full?"

[slingergame] DM says, "Looks like it's either or"

[slingergame] Shaborys says, "Boo. Ok."

Vraklul. if no one stops him, does whatever obvious thing there is to do to open the bulkhead.

Quarion says, "Pull the lever, Lily."

DM says, "It's locked tight"

Vraklul asks, "It's locked. You want me to pull the lever first?"

DM says, "Like, you can't turn the wheel"

Vraklul pulls the lever.

Quarion sighs, and pulls the lever.

Quarion says, "Too late, Lily, I've done it."

DM exclaims, "You pull the lever, and hear a roar of water from behind the door!"

DM says, "The gauge sinks, albeit slowly"

DM says, "Looks like all you can do is wait for a minute or two."

Quarion says, "Looks like we were worried about nothing."

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "just divide by 3!"

Vraklul asks, "We were worried?"

Quarion says, "Not you, Lily."

DM says, "While you wait, you sit down for a minute to catch your breath, and you all hear distant music."

Quarion pricks up his elven ears!

DM says, "It sounds lovely, and relaxing, and ... warm? Friendly."

[slingergame] Vraklul says, "OOC, I'm wondering if this is when we ought to be drinking Davina's potions."

Shaborys closes her eyes for a moment.

DM says, "You all close your eyes for just a second, and the rushing of water fades ..."

DM says, "WHEN SUDDENLY"

DM says, "The door unlocks."

Vraklul opens the door!

DM asks, "And you all awake, pleasently startled, and feel like you had a good rest. One might say ... a long rest?"

DM says, "Later, when you try to remember this, you will always think not of the loved ones you saw, but of an elf, playing a harp ..."

Quarion looks at his hands. 'Weird. My magic levels are back to normal. And I didn't even trance.'

Shaborys says, "Well, what are we sitting around here for? Let's go."

Vraklul opens the door!

DM says, "Vraklul swings open the door. There is dripping wet, metal walkway, leading across a reservoir, whose water level is still sinking."

[Crows-Nest] Vraklul says, "So if this were a videogame, that room we were just in would have been filled with ammo and healthkits."

[Crows-Nest] DM says, "Yes"

[Crows-Nest] Vraklul says, "ANd probably a savepoint."

[Crows-Nest] DM says, "nice try"

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "a boss fountain, as we call it"

Vraklul heads across the metal walkway, through the reservoir.

Quarion follows after him.

[Crows-Nest] Gunther says, "or goreshadowing"

DM says, "You make your way across the walkway, careful not to slip, and open the door at the other end. Behind it is a short, brick corridor, that ends in a collapse, but also a tunnel, dug down, seemingly by hand. You can see the faintest light from below."

Vraklul whispers (to everyone), "I think this tunnel is where we're supposed to be headed."

Quarion grits his teeth. For quite a long while, he's sworn to avenge the death of Tazlynn Thrice-Slain. This might be the opportunity, at last.

Quarion says, "Let's go. But with stealth."

Vraklul says, "I don't have much stealth. But I'll do my best."

Quarion says, "You can bring up the rear."

[slingergame] Vraklul says, "If we want to be stealthy, Borys should probably scout ahead."

Quarion asks, "Shaborys?"

[slingergame] Vraklul asks, "Do we care that much about being stealthy?"

[slingergame] Quarion says, "We need every advantage we can get."

Shaborys nods.

Quarion says, "I'll be right behind."

Shaborys sneak sneak sneak.

DM says, "Roll it"

DM says, "As you make your way down the muddly tunnel, carefully slipping and sliding (stealthily), you hear a voice you heard once before, seemingly months and hundred of miles ago. A gnomish women, and she sounds even crazier than before."

DM says, "No! What are you doing? I gave you the blood of that dwarven princess to summon you and to give me back my family? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?""

Shaborys turns around to the others and puts a finger to her lips.

DM says, "At the end of the tunnel is a small hallway, lit by torches. One wall is natural rock, while your left hand side is a brick wall."

DM says, "A few feet ahead someone had made a hole in the wall by force."

Shaborys peers in the hole?

[Crows-Nest] Quarion says, "Use the Force, Maza"

DM says, "As you sneek towards the hole, you hear another voice. It's deep, and dark, and full of malice."

[Crows-Nest] Shaborys says, "Well, whatever this thing is will hpoefully kill Maza, and then we can kill it. Or die trying."

DM says, "I am the Blood-Forged Chain. I have destroyed the Thrice-Slain King and laid ruin to his kingdom. You have summoned me know that you have only summoned your own destruction.""

DM says, "You peer into the hole. There is a small temple hall, with 4 pillars. All pews and decoration that once might have been has been destroyed, apart from the statue of an elven bard, displayed prominently, who seems familiar."

DM says, "(Cont)"

[Crows-Nest] Vraklul asks, "What'd you just call me?"

DM says, "Four pillars support the hall. At the back of it is a portal, bigger and darker than the ones you saw before. And some creatures stands just outside, but you can't really saw, because it's surrounded by flying, swirling chains. You knwo also notice chains wrapped around the pillars."

DM says, "Maza stands before him, the broken vial that once held Tazlynn's essence in her hands."

[slingergame] Quarion asks, "Is it only Shaborys who's seeing all this cool stuff?"

[slingergame] Shaborys says, "For now, yes."

[slingergame] Shaborys says, "I presume"

[slingergame] DM says, "Yep"

Shaborys silently takes this all in.

[slingergame] DM says, "Instead of the wizard, you send the rogue first. I guess that's *some* kind of learning progress"

DM exclaims, "You fool ! Her blood won't last! It was barely enought to summon you!"

DM says, "The Blood-Forged chain chuckles darkly."

DM says, "But my child do you forget that your father promised your own family's blood as well?""

DM says, "And chains comes down from where they swirl around him and just rip off her head. Maza's corspe falls over, and her blood begins to fill the pentagram she was standing in."

Shaborys sneaks back to the others and tells them all of this.

[slingergame] Shaborys asks, "Potion time?"

Vraklul says, "Well, that's one fewer bad guy we need to fight."

Quarion says, "Let's drink those potions."

Vraklul nods.

Vraklul drinks.

Shaborys quaffs her mind-steeling potion.

Horst chugs it down. Mmmm.

[Crows-Nest] Vraklul exclaims, "Oh no it was actually a mind-stealing potion now we're all mindless!"

Quarion drinks his mind-steeling concoction, and feels its potency swell inside his mind. Whatever happens, he'll go down fighting.

DM says, "The potion is lumpy and chalky, and you have a hard time getting it all down. But when you finally get it all down, your Willpower is increased by +2."

DM says, "For this fight."

[slingergame] Vraklul asks, "That'd be WIS saves specifically?"

[slingergame] DM says, "Yeah"

Vraklul says, "Let's do this."

[slingergame] Shaborys says, "Good. My WIS is low."

[slingergame] Quarion says, "So my WIS of -1 becomes a WIS of +1."

Vraklul readies his axe and strides forth to battle!

[Crows-Nest] Quarion sings, 'We're off to see the WIS, the wonderful WIS of Oz'

Vraklul exclaims, "For Varg Gijak, Tazlynn Thrice Slain, and all the innocent people of the world!"

Quarion exclaims, "Whatever happens, we will have been the best of the best!"

Shaborys hopes y'all are exclaiming quietly.

Quarion asks, "So Vrak goes ahead?"

DM says, "You march up to the hole. As you pass through, the chains on the pillars rear up, almost like snakes recognizing prey."

Shaborys clears the initiative.

Vraklul asks, "Blood-forged chain?"

Vraklul says, "We are here to END YOU."

DM says, "He points at Vraklul and says something, just one word, that sound ancient and scary and Vraklul drops dead."

Shaborys whoa.

Quarion exclaims, "VRAK!"

[slingergame] Shaborys makes grabby claws.

[slingergame] Vraklul asks, "No, I'm sorry, it's not clear at all. Could you maybe rephrase that in a less I'm-dead-now way?"

[slingergame] Shaborys says, "Oops"

Shaborys puts her hand on her sword.

[slingergame] Shaborys says, "Is what I meant to say"

DM says, "Yes, very tragic." He almost sounds bored."

Quarion gets ready to draw his wand.

DM says, "Then he claps his hands and there is a sudden THUNDERING ROAR that throws the rest of you across the room."

Shaborys bounces against a wall.

DM says, "And while you scramble to your feet, your ears ringing, the ceiling comes crushing down on you."

DM says, "THE END"

Quarion exclaims, "argh!"

[Crows-Nest] DM asks, "So, Superheroes next week?"

[slingergame] Shaborys nooooooooooo.

[Crows-Nest] Vraklul says, "Hee."

[Crows-Nest] Quarion says, "What a hell of a season finale."

DM says, "only ... it isn't ..."

[Crows-Nest] Quarion exclaims, "!!!!"

DM says, "As you drift across the Astral Plane to whatever paradise (or hell, looking at you Stabby) you're going to, suddenly you're whisked away"

[Crows-Nest] Quarion says, "..."

DM says, "And suddenly you see Astaforth, back in the Undercity, only for the first time he shows genuiene emotion. In pure rage and maybe even fear? he shouts "WAHT IS THIS? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? NOOOO!""

[Crows-Nest] Quarion exclaims, "!!!"

DM says, "I guess I will put them somewhere where they can't interfere ... forever...""

DM says, "You blink."

Hunter arrives at home.

Quarion asks, "What the --?"

DM says, "And find yourself ... adrift in some grey emptines ... surrounded by your friends."

DM says, "*emptiness"

Quarion says, "Oh, dear. This is some serious cosmic shit we're in."

Vraklul looks around. "Um. I think that lich was about to explain something, then... I blacked out. What did I miss?"

[slingergame] Vraklul says, "Do we still have our possessions? (Or a reasonable facsimile thereof?)"

Quarion says, "Uh, something stopped us from dying, Astaforth lost his temper, and banished us to some magical plane."

[slingergame] DM says, "yes"

[slingergame] DM says, "you have all your stuff"

[slingergame] Shaborys says, "Yiss. My precious."

Vraklul takes out his pipe, fills it and lights it up.

DM says, "Your tobacco drifts away"

[slingergame] Vraklul asks, "Also, does 'your friends' just mean the party, or are there other people here too?"

[slingergame] Horst says, "Send SIRI for help"

[slingergame] DM says, "The party"

Vraklul exclaims, "Hey! Get back here!"

[slingergame] Vraklul exclaims (at Horst), "Go for it!"

Quarion flits through his spellbook and finds nothing of use to someone wishing to escape these sort of situations.

Shaborys starts by checking all her pockets. Whew.

Vraklul asks (of Quarion), "So he never did explain why he was annoyed with us in the first place?"

DM says, "As you take out SIRI, she too begins to drift away, with adorably paddling feet"

Quarion says, "Um, I think it might have something to do with Balls of Evil."

[Crows-Nest] DM says, "Uhhh...one ball"

Vraklul says, "Huh. I thought that he was a skeleton now."

[Crows-Nest] DM says, "Balls of Evil is my 18+ group"

[Crows-Nest] Quarion says, "haha"

[Crows-Nest] Shaborys says, "Great balls of evil."

Vraklul says, "But I guess maybe they were preserved in one of those fancy jars or something."

Quarion says, "Vrak."

Vraklul asks, "Mmm?"

Quarion eyerolls.

DM says, "And then, in the distance, in the nothingness, you can make out a shape."

Quarion squints. 'Who is that?'

DM asks, "Is that ... a dragon?"

[slingergame] Shaborys says, "Whee"

[slingergame] Vraklul says, "Man, and just as I was about to take a nap."
